BALBOA VILLAGE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Wednesday, April 17, 2019 — 2:00 p.m.
I. CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Chair Dixon called the meeting to order at 2:07 p.m.
The following persons were in attendance:
Balboa Village Advisory Committee Members:
Diane Dixon, Council Member (Chair)
Gloria Oakes, Balboa Peninsula Point Association
Grace Dove, Central Newport Beach Community Association
Colleen D'Aluisio, OceanQuest Representative
Jim Stratton, At -Large Representative
Staff Members:
Seimone Jurjis, Community Development Director
Tony Brine, City Traffic Engineer
Mike Sinacori, Assistant City Engineer
Benjamin Zdeba, Associate Planner
II. CURRENT BUSINESS
1. CONDUCT WALKABOUT IN BALBOA VILLAGE
Recommended Action: Discuss areas for improvement and confirm wayfinding signage
locations.
All attendees met in front of OceanQuest by the Palm Street Lot and followed the following route:

The Committee and members of the public discussed the following:
• Potential for designated rideshare service drop-off and pick-up areas
• Placement of additional bike racks at Peninsula Park
• Potential wayfinding kiosk location in the grassy area between the Main Street inlet to the
Balboa Pier and the gazebo in Peninsula Park
• Instead of a full-size kiosk, placement of smaller area maps may be beneficial, such as
near parking pay stations and at the Trolley stop in the East Ocean Front Lot
• Potential kiosk location near the Balboa Island Auto Ferry loading/unloading area along
Edgewater Place

The meeting ended at 3:05 p.m.
