Box 6942 Fullerton, CA 92834 PeopleForHousi ng.org OCYimby.org People for Housing Orange County is a Chapter of YIMBY Action Network, a 501 (c) 4 that works to build welcoming communities where everyone can thrive. We are the voice of Orange County residents who understand and appreciate that the only way to keep Orange County strong is to build additional housing to support the needs of our residents. We have reviewed the proposal for Newport Airport Village and believe that this is an ideal housing project for the City of Newport Beach and one which the City Council should support. As the Council is aware, SCAG has issued the RHNA and Newport Beach will be required by the State to plan for housing in the City. With this project you have a 10 -acre site which was previously supported by the City Council for housing in 2014. This project is the exact type of project that the City Council should be approving. The biggest benefit of the project is new housing, including affordable housing, which has numerous benefits to the City of Newport Beach. The project also will contribute to the City through the public benefit fee, park fee, and public safety fee. In general, these fees leveraged on new housing development make housing more expensive and saddle new residents with the cost of city services. Nevertheless, we support the project overall and urge your support. Only by working to approve good projects like Newport Airport Village will the City of Newport Beach be able to comply with State Housing mandates. This project will be a great step in that direction. Respectfully yours, Co -Founder & Executive Director
