A vacancy has been created on the Economic Development Committee as a result of the
resignation of Christie McDaniel, who served as an At -Large representative. Ms.
McDaniel was Southern California Edison Region Manager for the Newport Beach area
and has been reassigned to another position with SCE. Her replacement as Newport
Beach Region Manager at SCE is Ms. Kim Barone. The Economic Development
Committee respectfully requests that the City Council appoint Ms. Barone to replace Ms.
McDaniel as an At -Large representative on the Committee.

I am taking this opportunity to offer my resignation from the Newport Beach Economic
Development Committee.
It is with sincere regret that I offer this resignation; however, as you know, I have been
reassigned new responsibilities within Southern California Edison (SCE) and I no longer serve as
the Region Manager for Newport Beach. Two and a half years ago, when I was first appointed to
serve the City of Newport Beach, the City Council was gracious in appointing me to the
Committee to serve in the same capacity as Charles Wilson, the former SCE Region Manager. I
would like to take this opportunity to convey that SCE continues in its commitment to serve the
City and also to highlight our continued interest and involvement with economic development
issues. The new Region Manager for Newport Beach is Ms. Kim Barone who previously served
as Administrative Assistant for State Senator Rob Hurtt. Kim has a very strong background in
economic development and business issues and I believe that she would be a strong asset to the
Committee should the Council desire an SCE representative.
I have enjoyed my term as a member of the Economic Development Committee and serving the
City of Newport Beach and I sincerely appreciated the opportunities to be of assistance in the
