Each unit shall be addressed with suite numbers off of 4340 Von Karman to replace the prior “unit scheme” pursuant to the suite list provided and attached in this letter. We will advise City departments; however, it will be your responsibility to inform all other affected agencies, such as the U. S. Postal Service, Orange County Assessor, utilities, etc. Please be sure to notify your local telephone service carrier so that responses to any “9-1-1” emergency calls are dispatched to a valid address. The address numbers should be at least four inches high, of contrasting color to their background, and clearly visible from the street. If you have any questions, please contact me at 949-644-3249, or mnova@newportbeachca.gov. I wish I had a great explanation and again, I am but one condo owner in a 4 story building with many different owners….but for some reason, even though many people pulled permits and did work in the building, the city stuck me with obtaining the waiver for the elevator and now this address issue. From my understanding, the owner submitted everything initially under unit numbers, but later decided that he liked suite numbers better – thought it sounded more “upscale”….so I think they changed it purely for vanity reasons. Most have a correlation to the suite numbers though. For instance, we have a total of 3 condos…one we finished about 18 months ago and was initially submitted as unit 204, but is actually Suite 240 now. This unit that I am doing now was sold as two units – units 202 and 203, but is actually suites 220 and 230. As you can see in the list, most are just a switch of the numbers – 201 becomes suite 210, my examples, 205 becomes 250 and so on. Again, all of this running around was tasked to me for some reason, which I did and I got all of the owners to sign the acknowledgment that I sent you. Everyone is and always has been on board with this change and the post office has only ever known them to be the new suite numbers and not the older unit numbers. Does this help?
