Even freezing and thawing cycles will not negatively affect the material. It has excellent abrasion resistance. KOSTER NB 1 Grey is supplied in powder form. It can be mixed either with plain water or with a solution of KOSTER SB Bonding Emulsion and water. The KOSTER SB Bonding Emulsion is added to improve the curing and the adhesion to steel when waterproofing between steel and concrete takes place. The KOSTER SB Bonding Emulsion also improves the abrasion resistance and elastic (lower modulus) properties of the material. Advantages - positive and negative side waterproofing against pressurized water - resistant against Chlorides, Sulfates and Phosphates - certified for drinking water environments - penetrates into the surface where crystallization leads to inseparable waterproofing -substrate bond - does not contain corrosion promoting ingredients - no VOC - works also on masonry and on very porous substrates like shotcrete, aerated concrete and cinderblock - does not require moisture curing - inhibits salt movement in the substrate when used as a system together with KOSTER Polysil TG 500 - easy application, long pot life - seamless application PreparationSurface Surfaces to be waterproofed with KOSTER NB 1 Grey must be sound and solid, as well as free of bonding inhi- biting agents such as grease and oil. Mix one 55 lb bag of KOSTER NB 1 Grey with one of the following: - 6.5 qt of water plus 2 qt of KOSTER SIB Bonding Emulsion or - 8.5 qt of water The addition of KOSTER SIB Bonding Emulsion to the mixing liquid raises the ability of the material to retain water and prevents a premature drying of the coating in cases of unfavorable weather conditions (warm, dry, windy). When used in drinking water reservoirs only the addition of 8.5 qt of water to each 55 lb bag of KOSTER NB 1 Grey is permitted. The addition of KOSTER SB-Bonding Emulsion will negate the Drinking Water Certification. For negative side waterproofing applications, do not add KOSTER SB Bonding Emulsion into the mixing liquid of the first coat. They can be added into the mixing liquid for the second coat. Application The material is applied in at least two coats with a brush or a suitable spraying device. Make sure the coating is not exposed to heat, frost and/or strong wind during the application and for at least 24 hours afterwords. The material should be brushed vertically and horizontally to work it into the substrate. Application Examples: Highly effective waterproofing with bituminous building materials. When applying a combined waterproofing system made of KOSTER NB 1 Grey and bituminous coatings (KOSTER Deuxan or KOSTER KBE Liquid Film), KOSTER NB I Grey can be applied directly to a void free masonry with flush -filled joints. After a curing time of 24 hours, the bituminous coating is brushed, troweled or sprayed on. The substrate preparation with KOSTER NB 1 Grey increases the safety of the system significantly. It is an additional waterproofing layer. It prevents lateral movement of water and at the same time it functions as a negative side waterproofing during the construction phase. Neaative side waterproofing in case of repair of widespread moisture penetration Active leaks and water weeping down the wall can be stopped with KOSTER KID 2. Brittle and loose material has to be cleaned out of joints and joints have to be repointed with KOSTER Repair Mortar Plus. After a waiting time of approx. 2 hours, the surface to be sealed must be primed with KOSTER Polysil TG 500 (Coverage: min. 340 ft2/gal, in case of strongly absorbent substrates up to 160 W/gal). After a waiting time of 30 minutes, the first coat of KOSTER NB 1 Grey is applied (Coverage: 0.3 Ib/ft2). When the first coat of KOSTER NB 1 Grey has set sufficiently so that it is not damaged by the application of a second coat, a second coat of KOSTER NB 1 Grey is applied (Coverage: 0.3 Ib/ft2). Allow KOSTER NB 1 Grey to cure for a minimum period of 48 hours on positive side and 4 days on negative side before exposing it to water pressure. A minimum of 0.5 Ib/ft2 will be required for most applications. However, on dense, smooth formed concrete (positive side only) a 0.25 Ib/ft2 application may be adequate (consult with manufacturer). If brush applied at 0.5 Ib/ft2, 2 coats will be necessary (0.25 pounds each). One 55 pound bag will cover approximately 110 ft2 based on 0.5 lb/ft'. Make sure KOSTER NB 1 Grey is applied evenly, leaving no areas void. The resin is 100% solventfree and 100%solids. The gel -time of the product is adjustable by the mandatory adding of a certain percentage of SealBoss" 15x Accelerator. A phthalate free formulation (F) is available. SealBoss- 1510 Water Stop Foam is NSF/ANSI 61 Drinking Water Contact Approved. Upon contact with water SealBoss" 1510 Water Stop Foam reacts to a semi flexible foam while expanding its volume 30 to 40. times based on accelerator concentration. The cured material is of a constant volume. Since water is not a component of the foam structure, the cured material is essentially not effected by water or dryness. The reacted material essentially does not shrink or swell. Depending on the amount of accelerator added and the pressure of injection, SealBoss- 1510 Water Stop Foam reacts to a dense, closed cell, semi rigid material ora more open cell, semi flexible product. For best waterproofing results the closed cell structure is desired. SealBoss" 1510 Water Stop Foam is designed for sealing water leaks and cutting off gushing water. Due to the low viscosity of the material, SealBoss' 1510 Water Stop Foam offers good penetration in hairline crack injection. The product can be used for the filling of voids, cracks and honeycombing in stone or concrete structures, and can be applied as a non - shrink, high strength soil stabilization grout when used with a reduced accelerator ratio. The moisture content of the soil must be suff'cientto ensure reaction. To achieve mostsatisfying and permanent results in certain applications, a combination of SealBoss'' 1510 Water Stop Foam with other systems of our product line may be advised. Ask your SealBoss0' technician for details. The product is for professional use. Installation Guidelines SealBoss`-^ 1510 Water Stop Foam and the SealBossx 15X Accelerator are supplied separately to allow adjustment of gel -time. It is mandatory to add 15X Accelerator to ensure a complete reaction as designed. A higher percentage of Accelerator added will increase reactive speed, expansion volume and will lower the density of the product accordingly. The accelerator system offers a very flexible range of reactive properties, gel -time and expansion rate which make this product extremely versatile for many applications. Since the end product is of cellular structure, a higher density is favored for best waterproofing properties. Recommended Mo ad o Product Data Sheet {. In situations of high water flow rates and /or low temperatures, ratios may be increased to 25%. For hairline crack injection and soil stabilization ratios may be lowered to less than 5%. Observe temperature and humidity of the environment, since both determine the pot -life of the premixed batch. Do not mix more material than the amount that will be pumped within reasonable time. Rule of thumb: High temperatures and high humidity decreased gel -time. Seal Boss` 1510 Water Stop Foam reacts with the moisture in the structure and does not need large amounts of water to react. Simultaneous injection of water is typically not necessary. Ifthe area of application seems to be completely dry, pre -injection of water may be recommended in some circumstances. All equipment, pumps and hoses must be dry. Avoid moisture contact with the mixture to prevent premature reaction. If product foams while pumping, immediately shut down the machine and flush with a cleanerto avoid built up and clogging of the equipment. Maintenance of Equipment Tools and equipment must be cleaned immediately after use. Remove all excess product. Cured product is hard to remove. SealBoss® R70 Pump Flush is a solvent free, non-flammable cleaner, lubricator, pump and hose conditioner. Please refer to the product data sheet for detailed information.
