HomeMy WebLinkAboutS32 - Council Ad Hoc CommitteesCITY OF NEWPORT BEACH Office of the City Council TO: Mayor and Members of the City Council FROM: Homer Bludau Robert Burnham RE: Council Ad Hoc Committees DATE: December 12, 2000 Airport Issues Committee COUNCIL AGENDA NO. 53D- \a -tit -Oc In January, 1999, the Mayor appointed three members of the City Council to an ad hoc committee (Airport Issues Committee) to review and make recommendations to the Council on grant requests and other matters related to the Orange County Airport Alliance (Alliance). The appointees and current members are Gary Adams (OCRAA representative), Dennis O'Neil (Alliance representative) and Norma Glover (Aviation Committee Chairperson). This Committee was later given the authority to review and make recommendations on grant requests from AWG and CJE. Staff is recommending that the Mayor make appointments to the Airport Issues Committee and modify the duties to include the following (1) review airport related grant requests and make recommendations to the Council regarding those requests; (2) oversee grant expenditures to ensure compliance with conditions; (3) review issues related to JWA and the El Toro reuse planning process and make recommendations to the Council (4) review of decisions of the Aviation Committee and make recommendations to the City Council as appropriate. JWA Settlement Agreement Extension Ad Hoc Committee Staff is also recommending the Mayor establish, and make appointments to, a JWA Settlement Agreement Extension Ad Hoc Advisory Committee. This committee would have a term of one year and the sole duty would be to meet with legal counsel to discuss issues related to the proposed extension Homer Bljddau City Manager of the JWA Settlement Agreement.
