SUBJECT: ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 2001- AUTHORIZING THE
INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS ON FORD ROAD AT NEWPORT
HILLS DRIVE EAST
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Resolution No. 2001- requiring all traffic on Ford Road to stop at Newport
Hills Drive East.
DISCUSSION:
The Public Works Department proposes to install STOP signs on Ford Road at the
intersection of Newport Hills Drive East. These signs coordinate access to the new
Bonita Canyon Sports Park. The entrance driveway to the largest parking lot of the new
sports park is located at this intersection. In addition to the proposed STOP signs at
the intersection, there are also two crosswalks planned for installation on Ford Road.
The Public Works Department has received requests from residents in Harbor View for
the installation of STOP signs and crosswalks at this intersection.
The installation of the STOP signs, messages, and crosswalks will be completed as a
part of the Ford Road Pavement Overlay project. This project will be completed prior to
the opening of the Bonita Canyon Sports Park.

RESOLUTION NO. 2001-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH REQUIRING VEHICLES TRAVELING
ON FORD ROAD TO STOP AT NEWPORT HILLS DRIVE
EAST
WHEREAS, Section 12.36.010 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code provides
that whenever any ordinance or resolution of this City designates and describes any
intersection at which vehicles are required to stop at one or more entrances thereto, the
City Traffic Engineer shall erect and maintain STOP signs at the entrances of each
intersection where a stop is required; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that there is a need for intersection control
on Ford Road at Newport Hills Drive East in the City of Newport Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach, that the following described location is hereby designated as a location
at which vehicles are required to stop:
On Ford Road at Newport Hills Drive East
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Traffic Engineer be and hereby is
directed to erect and maintain all necessary signs at the above locations.
