Lower Bay Dredging - Status December 13: City Council approved $2.5 million towards the project. December 28 - Corps' Small Business Administration: Declared that Dutra does not qualify as a small business as previously determined. ❑ Dutra is disqualified. Next lowest bidder is R.E. Staite from San Diego. ❑ Approximate $280,000 difference in cost. Memorandum of Agreement is still under review with the Corps. City is ready to sign. After MCA is signed, City can transfer $2.5 million which would be used to cover the Base Bid items (Corps does not have enough funds to cover these.) Then, contract can be awarded to R.E. Staite. Other Issues Balboa Yacht Basin improvement This was delayed last fall, but Harbor Resources will work with staff this winter /spring to develop and implement a plan. Dock Appeals ❑ Question: Why hasn't the Harbor Commission heard any appeals lately? ❑ Answer. The local dock companies are familiar with the rules, and how staff at Harbor Resources manages their applications. We do our best to solve these issues before they reach the HC level. Log Boom Log Boom installed on November 16 at its preferred location at North Star Beach Installed annually after the NAC's big race in early November in time for the storm season. Removed after storm season in the spring. Thanks to Municipal Operations Department and South Mooring Company. Approved by Coastal Commission today. Army Corp approval is next. Construction to begin soon (February ?)
