FUNDING REQUIREMENTS: The program will require funds for the bus rental fee, event coordination, and refreshments. DISCUSSION: On behalf of the City, the Arts Commission actively encourages programs for the cultural enrichment of the community. One of these programs is the annual museum bus tour. The City Arts Commission typically presents a bus tour to a local museum in the Spring. Staff has surveyed local museums for appropriate exhibitions. This year’s exhibitions for Spring 2015 include:  The Autry Museum of the American West The Masters of the American West Fine Art Exhibition and Sale January 31, 2015 - March 8, 2015 Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The Bowers Museum Where Ends Meet: A Retrospective Of Works By Nancy Ravenhall Johnson (Opening March 13, 2015) Adams, Curtis And Weston: Photographers Of The American West (Spring 2015)  The Huntington Library, Art Collection & Botanical Gardens Bruce Davidson/Paul Caponigro: Two American Photographers in Britain and Ireland November 8, 2014 - March 9, 2015 MaryLou and George Boone Gallery TO: CITY ARTS COMMISSION FROM: Library Services Department Tim Hetherton, Library Services Director 949-717-3810, thetherton@newportbeachca.gov PREPARED BY: Tim Hetherton TITLE: Annual Museum Bus Tour Eccentric Visions: Drawings by Henry Fuseli, William Blake, and Their Contemporaries November 22, 2014 - March 16, 2015 Huntington Art Gallery, Second Floor  The Getty Center World War I: War of Images, Images of War November 18, 2014 - April 19, 2015 Josef Koudelka: Nationality Doubtful November 11, 2014 - March 22, 2015 Dangerous Perfection: Funerary Vases from Southern Italy November 19, 2014 - May 11, 2015, GETTY VILLA  The Getty Villa Ancient Luxury and the Roman Silver Treasure from Berthouville November 19, 2014 - August 17, 2015 Molten Color: Glassmaking in Antiquity October 8, 2010 - ongoing Relief with Antiochos and Herakles May 23, 2012 - May 4, 2015  Long Beach Museum of Art Ceramics from the Permanent Collection May 16, 2013 - May 31, 2015 Masterworks: Defining A New Narrative October 23, 2014 - February 1, 2015  LACMA Pierre Huyghe November 23, 2014 - February 22, 2015 Delacroix's Greece on the Ruins of Missolonghi November 16, 2014 - February 15, 2015 Larry Sultan: Here and Home November 9, 2014 - March 22, 2015 Haunted Screens: German Cinema in the 1920s September 21, 2014 - April 26, 2015 Variations: Conversations in and Around Abstract Painting August 24, 2014 - March 22, 2015  NORTON SIMON Lock, Stock and Barrel: Norton Simon’s Purchase of Duveen Brothers Gallery October 24, 2014 - April 27, 2015 Manet's "The Railway" on Loan from the National Gallery of Art, Washington December 05, 2014 - March 02, 2015 Tête-à-Tête: Three Masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay March 27, 2015 - June 22, 2015 Human/Nature: Photographers Constructing the Natural World March 06, 2015 - August 31, 2015 These exhibitions, while fascinating and worthwhile to art aficionados, lack the wide appeal of past Arts Commission museum tours that is necessary to attract an appropriate number of participants.
