The quality of life in Newport Beach is directly related to the financial standing of the City. The greater the financial strength of the City, the better able the City will be to maintain and enhance its public facilities and retain a highly capable workforce. The Council has established the purposes and responsibilities of the Finance Committee and I believe my educational and work background would allow me to assist the Finance Committee in meeting the expectations the Council has for the Finance Committee. Although I no longer work in public accounting, I still have the thought process of a CPA. In addition, I have spent many years in business so I appreciate the importance of fiscal discipline. My goal on the Finance Committee would be to see the City receive high quality goods and services that enhance life in Newport Beach but at the lowest practicable cost. My service on many City Commissions/Committees tells me that while staff is very capable, they do benefit from citizen oversight from those with private world experience.
