11WEREAS, 1 in every 68 children will be diagnosed with Autism this year, this is 1 in every 42 boys
and 1 in every 189 girls; and
I�WEREAS, April is National Autism Awareness Month in the Vnited States and April 2 is
InternationalAutism Awareness (Day; and
'�WEREAS, nearly a quarter century ago, the Autism Society launched a nationwide effort to promote
Autism Awareness in America, inclusion and se f determination for all, and assure that each person
with Autism is provided the opportunity to achieve the highest possible quality of fife; and
1,WEREAS, this year National Autism Awareness 9Vonth represents an e.�cellent opportunity to
promote Autism awareness, Autism acceptance and to draw attention to the tens of thousands of
Americans facing anAutism diagnosis each year.
NOW,, TMERETO E, I, Kevin Wuldoon, Mayor of the City of Newport Beach, on 6ehalf of the
