Webb, Public Works Director - 949-644-3311, dawebb@newportbeachca.gov PREPARED BY: Bob Stein, Assistant City Engineer, rstein@newportbeachca.gov PHONE: 949-644-3322 TITLE: Big Canyon Restoration and Water Quality Improvement Project - Notice of Completion for Contract No. 8111-1 (Project No. 15X12) ABSTRACT: On September 13, 2016, City Council awarded Contract No. 8111 to construct features to improve water quality in Big Canyon Creek and replace invasive plants with native vegetation on the six -acre site. The work is now substantially complete and staff requests City Council acceptance and close out of the contract. RECOMMENDATIONS: a) Accept the completed work and authorize the City Clerk to file a Notice of Completion for the project. On May 10, 2016, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2016-58 adopting Mitigated Negative Declaration No. ND2016-001 (SCH# 2016031011), pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and City Council Policy K-3; b) Authorize the City Clerk to release the Labor and Materials Bond 65 days after the Notice of Completion has been recorded in accordance with applicable portions of the Civil Code; and c) Release Faithful Performance Bond one (1) year after acceptance by the City Council. The contracted work has now been completed to the satisfaction of the Public Works Department. A summary of the construction cost is as follows: Original Bid Amount: Actual Cost of Bid Items Constructed: Total Change Orders: Final Contract Cost: $1,782,230.00 $1,790,723.02 $ 141,423.09 $1,932,146.11 The actual cost of bid items constructed was $8,493 more than the original bid amount due to actual amount of sediment removed. The contractor will complete its 120 -day plant establishment and maintenance requirements on October 19, 2017. ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW: On May 10, 2016, City Council adopted Resolution No. 2016-58, A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach adopting Mitigated Negative Declaration No. ND2016-001 (SCH# 2016031011) for the Big Canyon Habitat Restoration & Water Quality Improvement Project (PA2016-046), Attachment C, pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act, State CEQA Guidelines and City Council Policy K-3). NOTICING: The agenda item has been noticed according to the Brown Act (72 hours in advance of the meeting at which the City Council considers the item).
