�.tiE�AS, the Newport Beach .ifistorical Society esta6Cz.shed in August of 1967, connects people; past,
present and future 6y coCCecting, inspiring, educating, preserving and protecting the unique and vidrant history
of the City of Newport Beach, including: Balboa, Corona deC�lar, Newport 7far6or, its islands and offshore,
the BackBay, Newport Coast and Newport 9t�tesa; and
`W�E�AS, in l�ecem6er 2014 an officiaC501 c3 was created to achieve the goal of esta6Czshing a repository of
hz:storicaldocuments with aCCdonations to de tax deductible; and
`G1�LtEi�AS, the historical society has a great respect for the past; dedicated also to recording the present, as it
reflects the past forfuturegenerations; and
�E�AS, the first priority is to preserve the Cving past of Newport Beach through, "the OraC.�fistory
1�'roject" designed to capture the real essence and spirit of Newport Beach; and
`w7irE�AS, the second priority rs to esta6Crsh a repository of historicaC documents, photographs, films, and
memorabilia with an advanced system to catalogue and preserve these materials; and
tiV".K�E�AS, a museum space has been donated and i.r Located at the BaC6oa �l'eninsula Lidrary, historicaC
markers have been placed throughout the city and informative dinner Lectures provide a platform for
descendants and interested parties to appreciate our rich heritage; and
`Gt%�ftE�AS, our rich heritage springs from a variety of talented people and achievements and the historical
society invites the community to participate in preserving and promoting our wonderfuCCity and its people.
