I met with staff from the City of Newport Beach and am fully in support of this project. The existing field is in considerable need of refurbishing. The once level field has been impacted by years of weather and windblown sand. Now, there are significant raised mounds in the field which restrict the students' and public's ability to fully utilize this area safely. Regrading the field, updating the wall, sidewalk, and drainage will add years of life and usability to this important green space on the peninsula. I urge you to approve the requested budget amendment needed to move this project forward. I know that a level playing field will be a much appreciated benefit to the students at Newport El and the community. Thank you for your attention and consideration in this matter. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
