NEWPORT BEACH, CA - on Thursday, May,3, at 1:44 p.m., the Newport Beach Fire
Depatment was d"apatched to a vegetation fire in the Back Bay near the East"
community,. Upon arrival, first in units aggressively attacked the fire using multiple
progressNe hose lays and contained the vegetation fire to an a pprmdmatety 1-mr+e area.
As a resutt of their actiom, ai of the homes along lista Grande in the Eastbllu#t oommunityr
were prytected. Them was no Teported structure darrmage to any homes neuirthre
vegetation fire_ The cautse of the fire is currently under irwesligatlon by Newport Beach Fire
Departrrtent Inveykptors. The Newport Beach Fre Department was assisted on the ccd by
Costa Mesa Fire Department and the Orange County Fire Authority, vAh appro)amA* 40
firefighters responding to the incident. The Newport Se ch Polce Department also
responded and arsststedwith traffic and crowd control_ Wed below fire p"rctures of the
vegetation fire_
