FAA Reauthorization — Noise Provisions
• Requires a review of the potential phase out of
Stage 3 aircraft.
• Establishes regional liaisons to work with
communities on aircraft noise, pollution and safety
concerns.
• Requires, under certain conditions, the FAA to work
with airports and affected communities in
evaluating the feasibility of flight paths over noise -
sensitive areas.
FAA Reauthorization — Noise Provisions
• Requires the FAA to develop plan to engage with
impacted communities in response to NextGen flight
alignments in metroplexes.
• Requires the FAA to study health and economic impacts
of noise exposure.
• Requires the FAA to evaluate aircraft takeoff speeds
and correlated community noise impacts.
• Authorizes 6 pilot programs to evaluate environmental
mitigation projects that "will measurably reduce or
mitigate aviation impacts on noise, air quality, or water
quality" within 5 miles of an airport.
