The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in special
session persuant to the following call. "You are hereby notified of a
special meeting of the Board of trustees of the City of Newport Beach, t
to be held at 2.30 P.M.Tuesday,Feby 24th,1914.Called for the purpose of
awarding contract on water pipe bids:also to discuss and decide on the
salaries to be Vttd set for the coming term for such Er_*3�ua positions
as,must be so provided for at this time..Also to consider the matter
of advertising for sale a telephone franchise.
President Hermes called the meeting to order,the call was read add
roll was called showing full Beard present:
The following bids on.water -pipe and fittings were considered.Bids
being in conformity with the clerks notice inviting same.
Pacific Hardwgreand steel Co. 16,056.65.
Fairbanks Morse and Co. '__1111 „;�78.04�
Crane and Co. 17444'
Mark -Lally Co. 17,450.16
H.R.Boynton Co. 17,291.12
Pacific Tank and Pipe Co. 112,485.61
All bids being on iron pipe except the last which was on wooden pipe.

Moved by trusteeW.K.- Parkinson seconded by trustee and carried,that
the bid of the Pacific Tank and Pipe Co on 3500 feet,more or less,
on the 12 inch wooden pipe with necessary fittings be accepted;
also that the bid of the Pacific Hardware and Steel Co on 15200 feet,
more of les o, vthe inc ron cas�n wuith tji J e-�-e� r fi tings
be accepedbll as cad stowing Ay'es":Y -' steese�i"I r e ,
S.L.Collins, W.K.Parkinson, R.E.Stauss and C.H.Way. Noes None. Absent
None. President Hermes declared bids awarded as above stated.
In the matter of adopting an ordinance establishing salaries for the
coming term.Moved by trustee W.K.Parkinson,seconded by trustee R.J.
Stauss that the matter be dropped by postponing action indefinitely.
Carried.
T he application of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company that
a telephone franchise be advertised for 'sale;was considered,and it
was decided to so do. Movec by trustee S.L.Collins,seconded by trustee
C.H.:4ay and carried that the term of the proposed franchise be 50 years.
Moved by trustee C.H.Way seconded by trustee R.J.Stauss and carried
that 10 free telephones for city use -be called for in the advertisement.
Moved by trustee W.K.Parkinson,seconded by trustee R.J.Stauss,and
carried that the clerk be instructed to advertise sale of a telephone
franchise inviting bids on the same, said bids to be in hands of the
clerk by 2.30 P.M.Aprik 20th,1914.
Moved by trustee W.K.Parkinson,seconded by trustee R.J.Stauss,and
carried that adjournment be taken. Adjourned
