City Hall, Newport Beach, California, March, 23d, 1914.
The Board of trustees of the city of Newport Beach met in adjourned
session 2:30 P.M. Monday March 23d, 1914.
President Albert Hermes called the meeting to order, and roll was
called showing there were present trustees: Albert Hermes, S.L.Collins
..".K.Parkinson,R.J.Stauss and C.H.7.7ay.
Various communications were read and refered to proper order of
business.
New business;- A petition was read signed by the property owners
asking that therstreet along the ocean front be bulk headed from
the S.P.wharf to 36th, street, Moved by trustee, 77.K.Parkinson
seconded by trustee, R.J.Stauss, and carried, that the request be
granted, and that the City Attorney be instructed to draft a reso-
lution of intention under jhe improvement Act of 1911, and that the
City Engineer be instructed to furnish the City Attorney with the
necessary data.
The petition of P.M.Evans, referring to a previous application
for the improvement of Alvarado Street,
Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins,seconded by trustee, C.H.Way, that
.1ashington, Coronado, Adams, A, and Fernando Streets be improved
under the improvement Act of 1911, and carried, that the City Attorney
be instructed to draft the resolution of intention, and the City
Engineer to furnish the Attorney with the necessary data,.
The application of Addie 7 ;lest asking that the liquor liscence
of Ed.7est be transferred to her as (Administratrix) was read,
Moved by trustee, R.J.Stauss, seconded by trustee, C.H. °day and
carried, that her request be granted after she had qualified as
Administratrix and had filed a new Bond.
Moved by trustee, '7.K.Parkinson, seconded by trustee C.H.7ay, and
carried that the pettion asking that the public toilets be not
built on 22nd, street, be laid on the table.
Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins, seconded by trustee, C.H.77ay, and
carried that the clerk be instructed to make application to the
State compensation Insurance Board for insurance, on city employees.
Letter from the Johns - Manville Co, requesting that a copy of the
map and specifications on thestreet lighting system be sent them,

application of Chase and Bramwell at Balboa, Moved by Trustee S.L.Collins
seconded b* trustee, R.J.Stauss that a committie be appointed to
investigate, The chair appointed as the committie, A,Hermes, W.K.
Parkinson and C.H.77ay, and the President and Clerk were instructed
to sign either protest or recomendation, upon report of said committie.,
and carried.

Letter from H.G.'?ells consulting Engineer, making application for
the position of Engineer, in connection with the building of the Jetty,
was filed.
Moved by trustee, S.L.Collins, seconded by trustee, C.H.:iay, that a
committie be appointed, to attend to the matter of furnishing the
Vault, the Chair appointed on the committie, S.L.Collins and A.Hermes.
Moved by trustee fi.K.Parkinson, seconded by trustee, S.L.Collins
and carried that adjournement be taken to 2.30 F.L. Monday, March 30th,
1914. Adjourned.
