The Board of Trustees of the city of 1.evport Beach met in rogialar
session 7.30 P.U.date and place above named.
President T.K•Parkinson called the,.meeting to order and the roll t,as
called shorting the re. were present trus .tees:.?:'.K.Parkincon;S.R.Jumpe
H.A.Robinsori;C.H.Way and G.P.17ilson.Absent none.
' The minutes of th3 meetiriS of Jany llthn1915 :sere read and approved.
Vmrious communScations were read and referred to.proper.order of
business.
Reports of.the h3ads of the various departments:for.the month of
January -oro read and on Qotion of trustee G.P.1"'Ucon,seconded by
trustee H.A•Robinson and carried were accepted and filed.
Unfinished business:- Ordinanc3 # - -- being an ordinance of" the city
of Newport Beach regulating the operating of automobile busses over
the,c,ity streets was ,after being read,referred back to. tho city
Attorney for amendment on motion of trustee G.P.1711son, -loconded by
trustee S.R.Jumper and carried.
Cpntract.with th- LaHabra Lpn4 and hater Company securing to the citl
a ten acre plot for use as garbage dump was read and acceptod;th:.
President of the Board being instructed to execute the same on the
part of the city his signature to.be attested by the Clork;lhis
action being taken on motion of trustee S.R.Jumpsr,seconded by
trtistee G.P.17ilson and carried..
The bonds of commissioners C.S.Forgy;Lew H.t7allace and A.N.Smi�h in
the sum of 05000.00 each were presented and accepted on motion of
trustee H.A,Robinson,seconded by trustee_C.H.17ay and carried.
Moved by trustee H- 11•Robinson,seconded by trustee C.H•*,ay and carrie
that the commissioners whose bong ave just been accepted be allove
a compensation of 05.00 per day /w de engaged in the matter oG
determining damages etc in the opening up oG the street from 23rd to
30th streets.
On motion of trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.Tay and
carried,$t was resolved thatthe agreement executed on the let day of
November 1912 between.the city of Newport Beach and the Southorn
Pacific Company and the Southern Pacific Railroad Company,concerning
the construction of a foot walk across the right -of -way underneath
the wharf at the city of Newport Beach,be accepted and placed on.fil .
L.G.Swales asked that the word "papers" be stricken out of the contra t
covering the handling og garbage and refuse;inasmuch as the destruct o:
of papers by burning is provided for by ordinance.Moved by trustee
C.H.Nay,seconded by trustee S.R.Jumper and carried that request be
granted and the stricken out. .
The bond of L.G.Swales in the sum of 500.00 as required by contract
in the matter of garbage disposal was presented and accepted on
notion of trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.elay and carried.
' New Business: "Moved by trustee H.A.Robirson,seconded by trusjee S.R.
Jumper and carried,that hereafter no officer of the city shall be
accepted as bondsman on any bond to be passed on by the Board of
Trustees.
The communication from Major Raymond asking for certain information
as to improvements in Newport Bay was read and president and Clerk
were instructed to sign reply to same on motion 9f trustee C.H.:7ay,
seconGed by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried.
Consulting Engineer H.Clay Kellogg recommended that,vherodamage had
been done by high tides,certain changes in the lines of the street
lighting seemed neecessary.General dicussion followed and the Board
as a committee of the whole agreed to meet Engineer Kellogg and a
representative of the Engstrom Company at 9 oclock Wednesday morning
to go over the matter on the ground.

Demands #676 to j;-766, approved by the finance commi.ttee,rnere presented
and on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee C.H.'7ay
and carried.aere allocied and warrants ordered drawn.
In the matter of the sidewalk on the front across the East - Newport
tract;action cas postponed for't_1e present on motion of trustee S.R.
Jumpor,•,econded by -trustee C.H.,:ay and carried.
The request of :later Supt J.LtAllan that the allowance for oporati
expense of the automobile used in his department be set at ,^,15.00 '
per month inatuad of ten dollars as heretofore was granted on motion
of trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee G.P.Wilson and carried.
Marshal Porter requested that business license #3934for 65.00due
from 71.L.Jcrdan,bo cancelled account the business not being operated
Moved by trustee H.A.Robinson,seeonded by .trustoo S.R.Jumper and
carried that request be granted and license cancelled.
11,rs.Robt Boyd requested the transfer of the milk wagon license held -
by her to The A14-so Dairy Company,account the business having been
sold to them.Loved by trustee S.R.Juoper,seconded by trustee G.P.
17ilson and carried thet request be granted and transfer ordered.
Moved by trustee B.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee S.R.Jumper and
carried that adjournment be t ken to 7.30 P.M.MondaD Peby Sth,1915.
