The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach met in regular session at 7.30 P.M.Monday March lst,1915. President Parkinson called the'mbeting to order and the roll ryas called. showing there were present tru"s tees: TV? K. Parkinson; ".R.Jumper; H.A.Robinson;and C.H.0a .Absent trustee G.P.Wilson;who however arrived later and tools fart in the proceedings of the meeting. 15th; The minutes of-the meetings of February lat;8thland 2 0th;were read a d nppam approved. The reports of the various heads of departments for the month of February were read and on motion of trustee C.H.1lay,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried were accepted and filed. The committee on the revamping,of the business license ordinance reported that they had the-.work ready to submit;matter "was referred to committee of the whole to meet with President Parkinson on the corning friday evening. Consulting Engineer Kellogg reported in the matter of street lights east of Main street,Balboa that.the required lights could be installed on posts at an estimated coat of 0166.00 exclusive of the cost of poles.Report accepted. Varoius communications read and referred to proper order of business) Unfinished business: Resolution #46;being a resolution of the city of Newport Beach ordering certain improvements on the following streets Adaoa,Alvarado, Coronado;Fernando and ,a portion of Bay Avenue;was read and on motion of trustee C.H. "lay seconded by trustee G.P.WIlson was put on final passage.Roll being'-called with the following rosult:Ayes.Trustees I.K. Parkinson; S .R.Jumper;H.A.hobinson;C.H.PIay and G.P.Wilson. Noes. None.Absent.None. President Parkinson declared resolution #n6 passeda Ordinance # - -- being an ordinance of the city of Newport Beach declaring that certain improvements are required and fixing grades on the following streets ,Lindo,Montajo;Ananda,bsland Anenuo,a portion of Bay Avenuo,First,Third,Fourth,and Ninth Streets, was road for the first time and was passed to second reading on motion of trustee C.H.Uay, seconded by trustee S.R.Jumper and carried. Resolution of Intention I - -- covering same streets named in ordinance above and giving notice of the ordering of work to be done a,as read for the.first time and passed to second reading on motion of trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee G.P.Wilson and carried. Letter from Gee L.Bugbee,land agent of the Pacific Electric Railway, stating that it had been decided by the officers of that Company to grant the desired easement on their right of way from Alvarado to Main streets Balboa provided they would not be put to any expense in the matter;was considered and the proposition accepted as stated on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee C.H.Way and carried. Communication from the Chief and Assistant Chief of the fire depar asking for certain apparatus and supplies was referred to the fire committee to investigate and report. Request of Robinson and Sons to transfer garrage license to Sickler and ward was granted on motion of trustee G.P.Wilson,seconded by trustee S.R Jumper and carried and license #205 was so transferred. Marshal Porter requested the cancellation of license #444 for 75� against the Balboa Land and Water Co,for operation of box ball game. Same not being in operation. Request granted and cancellation made on motion of trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried. Letter from-the Buffalo Steam Roller Co,soliciting business,was f Letter from engineer I.B.Punk concerning the matter of Beach protect was filed. t I CNZA e® Letter from G.W,Spencer,engineer, was filed. Demands #768 to # 9!/ /approved by the finance committeo,were present Moved by trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.VJay and carried that demands be allowed and warrants ordered drawn. A demand of the Pacific. Light and Power Co for the placing of two poles for the fire ¢epar.tment was referred to the fire -chief for check up and report. Marshal Porter made Inquiries to certain severing on Newport Avenue and was referred to the Street Committee. Moved by trustee C.H.:9ay,seconded by trustee G.P.wilson and carried, that city attorney Bishop be instructed to prepare and present the initial steps in a proper proceeding for the protection and preservation of property upon the ocean front,same to be presented at the next meetim of .the Board., The matter of, the evil smell that has been endured for some time past was discussed and on motion of trustee C.K.'V±ay,seconded . by, trustee ii:A.Robinson, and carried,health officer J.A.Porter was given special assAgment to investigate and take the noceessary stepd to have-the nuisance.obated.. Moved by trustee S.R.Jumper,speonded by trustee H.A,Robinson and carried that 0200,00 be appropriated for promotion purposes and placed in the hands, of Lew H. "allace for disbursement.
