Qity Hall,Newport Beach,Calif.June. 7th,1915.
The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach met in regular
zession at 7.30 1.M.Monday June 7th,1915,in the city hall.
President Parkinson called the meeting to order and the roll was
called showing there .were present trustees :',V.;i.Parkinson,�..R.Jumper,
C.H.Way and G.R.'Vilson.Ahsent- trustee H.A.Robinson.
Minutes of the meeting of May 24th,1915 were read and aVproved. ,
Reports of the heads of the various departments were read and the
same were ac epted and filed on motion of trustee C.H.Way,seconded
by trustee G.P.Wilson and carried.
Various communications were read and referred to proper order of
business.
Unfinished business:Ordinance #111 being an ordinance of the city of
Newpot;t Beach establishing certain regulations concerning fire,fire
apparatus,and establishing fire escapes for buildings.was read for
the second time and was put on final passage on motion og trustee
G.P.Wilson,ceconded by trustee S.R.Jumper and carried.Roll was called
showing; ayes; trustees '. V. B.Parkinson,S.R.Jumper,C.1f.Way and G.P.'.Vilsor.
Noes;None.Absent,trustee H.A.Robinson.PresiUent Parkinson declared
ordinance ,lflll passed.
Ordinance #112 being an ordinance of the city of Newport Beach
defining,for the �-,urpose of this ordinance,garbage,pr-oviding for the
collection and disposal thereof,etc,was read for the first time and
was passed to second reading on motiom of trustee C.H.Way,seconded
by trustee S.R.Jumper and carried.
Moved by trustee Z.R.Jumper seconded by trustee C.H.Way and carried
that city attorney Bishop be,and hereby is instructed to proceed to
sue the bondsmen of Mr Cummings who refused to proceed with work of
street improvement on East - Newport streets after bidding the work in.
In the matter of pending bills concerning Harbor developement, waiting
the Governors signature;Lew H.Wallace was instructed if necessary to
proceed to Sacramento and take matter up with the Governor personally.
The Commissioners in the matter of opening Bay Avenue from 3rd to
30th streets offered a supplementary or amended report which added
dimension figures on map of plat.r'eport accepted and clerk instructed
to advertise same as required by law.
Messers Kellogg and Wallace reported an interviev with G.L.Bugbee of
the Pacific Flectric concerning the protecting of the ocean -front
along their tract.Mr Bugbee being vary decidad in his statement that
there was no chance of the P.E.Company making any such improvements.
On motion of trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.'Nay and
carriad:7.30 P.M.Monday June 14th was set as a date and time for the
Board to meet as a committee of the whole and invite the g..neral
public to meet with .them for the ;,urpose of di- cussing the matter of
ocean front protection.

Elbert Lane proprietor were presented and accepted and filed on
motion of trustee G.P.,.Vilson,secohded by trustee C.H.Way and carried.
The application of Clevere and Dessens for hotel liquor license to
be used in the Hotel Newport was presented and laid over until next
meeting as required by ordinance.
Application of Lew H.Wallace to construct a wharf or boat landing on
the bay -front was read and laid over as required.
Mr Glenn Helms requested that business license issued to him be
transGorred to J %Fields account of the business having been purchase
by Mr Fields.Roquest granted and transfer ordered on motion of trust
C.H.'Nay,seconded by trustee G.P.Wilson and carried;the license in
question being #486.
Tho request of Kavanaugh Brothers that thn city take some action in

the matter of bulk- heading pool. pt West Newport so. that they may be
able to finish their work of street grading commenced some time aLo.
Matter referred to city attorney Clyde Bishop.
Demands #1015 to 1104 inclusive,approved by the finance committee,
were presentod,allowed and warrants ordered drawn,on motion of tru tc
G.P.Wilson,poeonded by_ trustee C.H.Iffay and carried..
Attention was again called to the request of J.V.Carroll that license
#283 and X71284 be transferred and on reconsideration request Qas
granted and licenses ordered transferrpd on motion of trustee G.P.
Wilson,seconded by C.H.Way and carried.
