Monday July 5th,1915.being a legal holiday;the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the city'of Newport Beach due to be held on that date aut6matiely and by law carried over to the foll ®wing day when the Board.of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach met:in regular sessio in the city hall at 7.30 P.M.President Parkinson called the meeting to order and the roll was called showing 'there were present trustees W.K. Parkinson ;S.R.Jumper;H.A.Robinson and C.H.Way.Absent trustee G.P.Wilson.Who however arrived after roll -call. Minutes of the meetingssof June 7th,21st and 23rd were read and approved. Reports of the heads of departments for the month of June were read and were ac epted and filed on motion of trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by'trustee H.A.Robinso,n and carried. . Annual reports of the various departments,excepting the Treasurers report which will be offered at next regular meeting,were presented accepted and filed on motion of trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee G.P.Wils•on and.carried. Various communications were read and referred to proper order of business. Unfinished business: Resolution of intention proposing to change and establish grades and order certain improvements on specified streets in East - Newport was read for the first time and was passed to second reading on motion of trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trusteeS.R.Jumper and carried. The request of the Pacif Light and Power Company that bond now on file with the city be exchanged for a new bond offered by them was referred to the city attorney. Communication from Mr Hassler dwelling further on the matter of heads was filed with previous letters of the same nature. The request of the West - Newport Improvement Association that two street li hts be installed one on 36th and one on 38th streets and offering 930.00 cash to help defray cost of installing was refused and the clerk instructed to state to the Association that the Board had by resclution formerly adopted decided to install lamp posts onlX where the property owners were willing to pay the initial cost of 135.00 for each post installed. Request of Marshal Porter that business license x{622 be cancelled on account of the party in whose favor drawn having gone out of business,was granted on motion of trustee C.H.lNay,seconded by truste G.P.Wilson and carried.License ordered cancelled. Invitation of the proprietors of the Hotel Newport for the official family of the city of Newport Beach to dine at the hotel on the evening of their next meeting was accepted on motion of trustee G.P. Wilson,seconded by trustee C.H.Way and carried. Applications for permission to conduct certairi lines of business as required by ordinance #110 were read and the desired permission granted on motion of trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.'Aay and carried. Application of J.T.Ferres to build a pied or boat landing on the bay side don front of lot 8 block L Balboa was read and laid over as required by ordinance. Fire insurance policy in the amount of 6w105O.00 issued by the Americ Central Insurance Co,covering city barn and contents,expiring July 2nd,1918.was approved,accepted and ordered filed. A petition of various citizens asking that a certain style of bulk- head as designed by F.W.Harding be approved and steps taken to order same in along certain portions of the ocean- front,was filed and Mr Harding told to secure contracts with property owners on the front who favored that style of protection.If a strong majority in the "72 district designated favored such a bulk head the city trustees expressed a willingness to order such a work in. Demands #1 to #75 inclusive,approved by the finance committee,were presented and were allowed and warrants oddered drawn on motion of trust :ee$..R.Jumper, seconded. by trustee.H.A.Robinsmn and carried. It appearing that the minutes of the meeting cf i 'Aay 10th1915 are in error as to the matter of referring the commissioners report back to 'that body in the opening of bay_avenue;it was moved by trustee.C.H.Way, seconded by trustee S.R.Jumper and carried that the following changei be made;strike out the words "without recommendation" and insert instead the following "With instruct1ons to correct map and,plat by inserting dimension figures of lots and blocks shown thereon" The easement offered by.the Pacific Electric Company over a ten foot strip of their right of way from.Alvars.do to Main streets Balboa for use as a street was accepted and President Parkinson was authorized i and instructed to sign the.necersary documents on the part,of the city,clerk to attest same.. i Moved by trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee S.R.Jumper and carried that adjournment be taken to 7.30 P.M.Monday July 12th, 15.Adjourned. i T Clerk.
