The Board of Trustees of the city of.Newport Beach met in adjourned
session 7.30 P.M.Monday January.10th,1916.)
The President of the Board being absent;the clerk called the meeting
to order and-on motion.of trustee G.P.'ilson,seconded by trustee
H.A.Robinson,and ca.rried;trustee S.R.Jumper was elected president
pro -Lem and aEL took the chair and ordered the roll called which
' showed there were present trustees S.R.Jumper,H.A.Robinson,C.H.Way an
G.P.Wilsop.Absent trustee in.K.Parkinson.
Trustee G.P.Wilson for the fire committee reported on inspection of
the fire trucks offered the city which were formerly used at Long
Beach.
City Pngineer'Funk reported giving estimate of pipe and fittings
needed for a gas distributing system.Feport accepted and filed..
New Business:- On.motion of trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee
G.P.Wilson and carried,it was resolved that the clerk be authorized
and instructed to advertise for bids for supplying the city of
Newport Beach with natural gas containing not less than 1000 B.T.U,s
per cubic.foot,in a minimum quantity of 50,000 cubic feet,per day of
twenty four hours,and such increased quantity as the city may here-
after require;all gas to be furnished to be measured at a pressure
of 4 Oz,above atmosperic pressure and to be furnished -for such a
period of time as the Board of Trustees may desire to contract for•,no
exceeding ten years.
The clerk shall also seperately advertise for bids for supplying the
city of Newport -Beach with artificial orscomercial gas containing
not less than 600 B.T.U,s per cubic foot,in a minimum quantity of
50,000 cubic feet per day of twenty -four hours,and such increased
.quantity as the city.may hereafter, require,ay:d to be furnished for
' such a period of time as the Board of Trustees may desire to contract
for not exceeding tell years.
The Board of Trustees to reserve thehright to discriminate in favor
of one kind of gas as against all over kinds of gas,for -which bids
are presented,and to have the right to contract for natural gas at
a greater price than artificl or commercial- gas,and the right to
contract for artificial or commercial gas at a greater price than
natural gas,and further reserves the right to reject any and all bids
m,7de,and further reserves.the right to require a satisfactory bond
from any successful bidder before entering into a contract..
(Bids to be in the hands of the clerk by 7.30 P.M.Monday Jany 31st,191
On motion of trustee .C.H.Zlay,seconded by trustee G.P.Wilson and
carried,the clerk was authorized and instructed to ad,vertize for sale
23 bonds of the city of Newport Beach the same being gas distributing
system bonds,par value$23,000.00,Bids to be in the hands of the clerk
by 7.30 P.M.Monday Jany 31st,1916.)
Moved by trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee.O.A.Robinson and carried
that the clerk be authorized and instructed to advertize for bids
for pipe and fittings necessary for the installation of a gas
distributing dgstem,the needed data for such advertisement to be
furnished by the city engineer.Bids to be in the hands of the clerk
by 7,3.0 P.M.Monday,Jany 31st,1916.
' Demand for 01,000.00 being second payment on the city garbage dumping
grounds was presented,said demand being numbered 540,and approved by
the finance committee.On motion of trustee H.A.Robinson seconded by
trustee C.H.Way and carried demand was a;.lowed and warrant ordered
drawn.
wg� TrusteeH.A.Robinson reported a request of the Chamber of Commerce
that the city take steps to secure and install weather giraGes at the
-city hall.No action taken.
- Moved by trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried
that the matter of inspecting and pinking out fire apparatus be left
in hands of committee until next meeting.
Moved by trustee G.P.Wilson,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and
Icarried,that adjournment be taken to 7.30 P. 10. Monday, Jany 24th,1916.
