The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach met in adjourned session 7.30 P.M.date and.place above shown,. President W.H.Parkinson called the meeting to order and the roll was called showing there were present trustees ,W.K.Parkinson,S.R.Jumper, H.A.Robinson,C.H.Way.and G..P.Wilson.None absent. The minutes of January 24th,1916 were read and approved. Various communications were read and referred to proper order of business. Unfinished business: -This being the time set for the opening of bids on pipe and fittings for the.installation of a gas distributing system;such bids as were on hand were ordered opened and were made by the following.H.Mueller Manufacturing Co of San Francisco on brass goods only.$25.00 cash.accompan ing bid.Smith- Boob}; -Usher Co. Of Los Angeles With deposit of check �300.00.Crane Company of Los - Angeles.Deposit check $325.00.4merican Cast Iron Pipe Co of Los - Angeles.Check accompanying $350.00.United States Cast Iron and Foundry Cc of Los Angeles,two bids rendered on different sections. Checks for $180.00 and $3.0.00 accompanying bids.H.R.Boynton Company of Los Angeles.Check accompanying $400.00.Pacific Meter Company of San Francisco on meters only.Check accompanying $120.00. Moved by trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee S.R.Jumper and carried, that bids be referred to a committee of the whole and engineer Funk. The President of the Board then ordered that -bids on furnishing gas to the city be opened.The bid of the Southern Counties Gas Company of California was.opened,i.t being,the only bid received,and was as to figures as follows. 29¢per M cu'ft'for..the first 50,.000.cu'ft' per day. 25¢." M cu'ft'for the next 25,000 cu' ft'per day. 22¢ " M cu'ft'for the next-25,000 cu'ft'per day. 20¢ " M cu'ft'for 611.over 100,000 cu'ft'per day. Moved by trustee P.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee C.H.Way and carried, that bid be referred to a committee of the whole with city attorney Bishop and city engineer Funk. Moved by trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried, -that the opening of the bids on bonds,be postponed to 7.30 P.M. Monday February 7th,1916. dommunication from the W.H.Boardman interests making certain statements as to what is proposed in the way of improvements in the present gas system was filed. Applications foam Messers U.L.Robinson and H.r.Lydecker for positi with the city in case the municipal gas distributing system is established were filed. The lease presented by the Pacific Electric-Railway Company covering a pipe.line crossing.at East Newport was considered and on motion of trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried, the President was instructed and authorized amd to sign same and the clerk to attest said lease. Moved by trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee S.R.Jumper and carried, that adjournment be taken s.ine- die.jidjourned./ City Clerk.
