The Board of Trustees of.the city of Newport Beach met in regular session at 7.30 P.M.Monday February 7th,1916.in the city.hall. President W.K.Parkinson called the meeting to order and the roll was called showing there were present trustees 'N.K.Parkinson;S.R.Jumper; H.A.Robinson;C.H.Way - and G.P.Wilson.Absent none. The minutes of the meeting of January 31st,1916 were read and Reports of the heads of the various departments,for the month of January were read and on motiom of trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trus G.P.Wilson and carried,were accepted and filed. Various communications were read and referred to proper order of business. Unfinished- business: This being the time set for the opening of bids on-the t23000.00 gas distrl.buting system-bonds offered for sale,the clerk was instructed to open such bids if.any.re.ceived.A bid'from the State Board of Control on behalf.-of the State of California was opened and was as follows.Par,accrued interest to date of delivery and seven hundred and fifteen dollars($71.5.00) premium. This being theonly bid received it was referred to a committee cf the whole on motion of trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried. (# see errata on page lo5) Bids for fire apparatus,as advertised for,were then opened and were as follows.The American- LaFrance Fire Engine Company offered two seconded machines,now at Long Beach,and which have been inspected by the fire committee and fire- chief,at $900.00 each.Also bid on new machines at $2300.00 each.The Winton Company bid offering new machiz one at $2750.00 or, two for $5000.00.These bids were referred to a committee of the ,whole and the Fire -Chief on motion of trustee C.H. Way,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried. New Business - Demands #541 to #641 inclusive approved by the finance committee were presented and were allowed and warrants ordered drawn on motion.of trustee S.R.Jumper,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried. A letter from the State Railroad Commission notifying of an applica- tion by the Southern Counties Gas Company to extend pipe lines in Orange County. was considered and city attorney Bishop and city engineer Funk were appointed to attend the hearing before the State Commission when same occurs. Letter from the State Railroad Commission. asking as to the intention of the city in.the matter of establishing a gas distributing system was referred to city attorney Bishop for reply. Letter from the State Railroad Commission concerning the "safety first-"movement was filed. Proposal from the American Rubber Manufacturing Company quoting price on fire hose was filed. Clerk called attention to fact that temporary help was about to be required in the city office and on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson, seconded by trustee C.H..Way and carried,was instructed to employe such help. The committee of the whole having in hand the considering of bids on the $23000.00 gas distributing bonds offered for sale b$ the city, reported and reccomended thattthe bid of.the State of California be accepted. On motion of trustee G.P.Wilson,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and duly sarried,the bid of the State Board of Control on behalf of the State of California,on the $23000.00 gas distributing system bonds,which is par,interest to date of delivery and a premium of $715.00,was accepted;award was made and the said bonds sold to the State of California CNZA J Moved by trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried that adjournment be taken to 7.30 P.M.Monday February the fourteenth,ninteen hundred sixteen.Adjourned.
