City Hall,Newport Beach,Cal.March 27th,1916.
The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach met in adjourned
session 7.30 P.M.Monday,March 27th,1916.
President Parkinson being.- absent the clerk called the meeting to
order and on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee C.H.
Way and carried,trustee S.R.Jumper was elected President pro -tem and
at once took the chair and ordered the roll called;which showed there
were present trustees ,S.R.Jumper,,H.A.Robinson and C.H.Way.Absent
trustees W.K.Parkinson and G:P.Wilson.The latter however arrived afte:
the roll had been called and took part in the subsequent proceedings.
The minutes of March 20th,1916.were read and approved.
Attorney Bishop reported delivery of map to county surveyor McBride
covering the tract designated. as #57 California Avocado Orchard Acres
and presented a blue print of the same for the city file.
Attorney Bishop also reported that in the matter of an ordinance
covering the matter of cleaning up vacant lots that the matter was
fully covered by State law under which the needed cleaning could be
done.
Various communications were read and referred to proper order of
business.
Unfinished business:Ordinance #122 was read for the second time,the
same being an ordinance of the city of Newport Beach creating an
additional fire district in the city of Newport Beach to be desiginat
and numbered fire district number four,prescribing the exberior
boundaries of said district and prohibiting the use of certain
materials for building purposes therein.Moved by trustee G.P.:"lilson,
seconded by trustee C.H.Way and carried that ordinance #122 be put on
final passage.Roll was called resulting as follows.Ayes;trustees
S.R.Jumper,H.A.Robinson,C.H. Way, G. P. Wilson.Noes;None.Absent;trustee
,�V.K. Parkinson .President,pro- tem,Jumper declared ordinance #122 passed
New business: - Demand #710 covering expenses of attorney Bishop to San
Francisco and return on city business was allowed and warrant ordered
drawn on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by trustee C.H.Way
and carried.
Demand of the State Gompensation Insurance for "current years insurance
of city employees being demand #711 for $418.94 was allowed and warrai
ordered drawn on motion of trustees C.H.Way,seconded by trustee G.P.
Wilson and carried.
umbers bond presented by A.L.Head was accepted and filed on motion
trustee C.H.Way,secorided by trustee H.A Robinson and carried.
.A.Logsden requested the transfer of auto -bus license #13 from him -
elf to the Blue Star Lire.The latter presented a certified copy of
rticles of partnership for the city file.Moved by trustee C.H.Way,
econded by trustee H.A Robinson and carried that the request be
ranted and the transfer made..
The request of O.M.Brown that he be appowed to move his lunch wagon
and locate same at the intersection of Bay Avenue and Main street
Balboa was denied on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson,seconded by
trustee G.P.Wilson and carried.
Notice from the H.R.Boynton Co that the prices as quoted by them on
iron pipe could no longer be protected but that the pipe could be
furnished at an increased price was filed.
Letter from deputy Asseror C.M.Crego calling attention to certain
assement values and asking that when neccessary extra help be given
his office to get the work done properly was filed without action.
n motion of trustee C.H.Way,seconded by trustee G.P.Wilson and
carried the city engineer I.B.Funk was instructed to prepare plans,
specifications and estimate of cost of improving certain streets
located in East Newport and Balboa with asphalt concrete paving.

Trustee C.H.Way called attention to the need of a public landing on
the Bay front at the foot of Palm street;and introduced a motion
which was seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried that city
engineer I.B.Funk be instructed to formulate plans for a landing at -
that pofnt,piling to be of re &nforced concrete and stringers and deck
of wood;the same with estimate Of cost to be submitted to the Board
of Trustees as soon as possible.
Engineer Funk presentedacertain map covering Iks a section of the
city of Newport Beach.Thereupon the following resolution was intro -
duced,and adopted on motion duly made,seconded and carried.
Resolution_ #50.A resolution of the Board of Trustees of the city of
Newport;;Bpach;as the city council thereof adopting an official map
of a portion . of the city of Newport Beach,Orange County,California,
for the purpose of defining all streets,avenues,and alleys East of
the East;,line.of Alvarado Street in lot 5,section 34,and lots 8 and
9,section 85,Township 6 South,Range 10 West,San Bernardino Meridian.
The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach do resolve and
declare as follows.
1st.Resolved that that certain map made and compiled by the Engineer
of the city of Newport Beach and presented to the Board of Trustees
of aaid city on.Monday the 27,th,day of March 1916,and numbered /0 Z
be and the same is hereby adopted as the official map of a portion
of the city of Newport Beach,Orange County,State of California for
the purpose of defining all streets,avenues and alleys,east of the
east line of Alvarado street in lot 5,section 34 and lots 8 and 9,
section 35,Township 6 south,Range 10 west,San Bernardino Meridian.
2nd;Resolved,that all streets,avenues and alleys shown.on said map b
and they are hereby accepted as public streets,avenues and alleys of
the city of Newport Beach by the names therein designated.
3rd:Resolved that said map be certified under the hands of the
members of the Board of Trustees and the President therecf,attested
by the clerk under the official seal of the said city of Newport
Beach,with the date of its adoption.
4th:Resolved that said map when so certified shall be forthwith file
in the office of the County Recorder of the County of Orange as such
official map. _
The foregoing resolution was passed,adopted and approved and the sai
map certified as therein required this 27th day of March 1916 by the
following vote to -wit.
Ayes: Trustees., S.R.Jumper,H.A.Robinson,C.H:Way and G.P.Wilson.
Noes:None. _
Absent:Trustee,W.K.Parkinson.
President,pro- tem,Jumper declared Resolution #50 adopted.
Moved by trustee G.P.Wilson,seconded by trustee C.H.Way and carried
that adjournment be taken sine- die.Adjourned.
