The Board of Trustees of'the City of Newport Beach, met in adjourned session 7:30 P.M. date and place above shotim. President Jumper called the meeting to order and the roll was called showing there were present Trustees, S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, G.P. Wilson, H.A.Robinson. Absent J.C.McCain. The latter however arrived after the roll had been called and took part in the subsequent proceedings. The minutes of the meeting of May 8th,1916, were read and approved. Trustees; J.C.McCain and H.A.Robinson acting as the Gas committee presented a contract executed by them with the Pacific Meter Co for the purchase of 400 Iron Case Meters ® a price of $6.00 each, f.o.b. Newport Beach. Moved by trustee, G.P.Wilson seconded by trustee, Glenn Helms and carried that the contract with the Pacific Meter Cc be approved accepted and filed. Various communications were read and referred to proper order of. business. UNFINISHED BUSINESS; Resolution No. 52, being a Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach, as the legislative body thereof, calling and ordering to be held a special election in the city of Newport Beach, and also in certain territory outside of the city of Newport Beach, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the city of Newport Beach, and to the electors residing in said outside territory, the proposition or question of the annex- ation of said territory to the city of Newport Beach, fixing the date of such election, establishing voting precincts, and places at which the polls will be opened, appointing officers of election, and directing the giving of notice of said election. came up for second and final reading and consideration and on motion of trustee H.A.Robinson seconded by trustee G.P.Wilson and carried Resolution No.52 was passed and adopted by the following vote, to -wi Ayes, Trustees; S.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, G.P.Wilson, H.A.Robinson and J.C.McCain, Noes;trustees, None; Absent; trustees, None. and was then approved by the President of the Board of Trustees. Moved by trustee, H.A.Robinson seconded by trustee J.C.AIC68in and carried that the City Engineer be instructed to draw plans , spec- ifications and estimate of cost for the proposed 4 -inch concrete roads at East Newport. NEW BUSINESS; The application of Jack Morderich for permission to establish and.operate a fish market in fire district #1 at a point south of Ocean Avenue opposite the Parker block on the Ocean Front tract was referred to a committee consisting of trustee Glenn Helms and trustee H.A.Robinson to report on same at the next meeting. The communication from the State ry, Commission setting the date of their hearing to be held at the City Hall Huntington Beach at 2:P.M. May 16th, 1916 in the matter of the application of Boardman & Legee was referred to the standing Gas Committee to attend same. Moved by trustee, G.P.Wilson seconded by trustee, Glenn Helms and carried, that Frank L.Rinehart be employed at a salary of $2.50 per day to get out circular letters and attend to the clerical work of the Municipal Gas Department. Trustee G.P.Wilson called attention to the Brown building located on Main Street and the fact that the same apparently extended over on the side -walk reservation. the matter was referred to the'Street Supft for attention. Moved by trustee Glenn Helms, seconded by trustee, J.C.McCain, and carried that all the extra Police stars be called in except those carried by Deputies, Souder and Ulrich. 128 Moved by trustee, G.P.Wilson'seconded by trustee, H.A.Robinson and carried that adjournment be taken sine -die.
