The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport peach met in adjourned session 7:30 P.M. Monday February 19th, 1917, President Jumper called the meeting -to order and the roll was called showing there were present trustees, St.R.Jumper, Glenn Helms, G.P. Wilson, H.A.Robinson, J.C.McCain,-Absent; None. Minutes �of the meeting - of February 5th, 1917 were read and approved. Communications were read and referred to pro -per order of business. UNFINISHED BUSINESS; None. NEW BUSIIESS; Trustee Glenn Helms presented an ordinance which was ordered filed, read for the first time, and assigned No. 129 the same being: An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach declaring that the public interest and convenience requires, and that it is the intention of the Board of Trustees to order an improvement made at and within the city of 'Newport Beach, describing the improvement, the land necessary to be taken therefor, specifying the boundaries of the 'district to be benefited by said improvement and to be assess ed to pay the expenses thereof, and to be known as the assessment district and directing the giving of notice." The Ordinance, on motion of Trustee H.A.Robinson, seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain and carried was passed to its second reading and referred to the city attorney and city engineer to be put in proper form for final passage and adoption by the Board of Trustees. J Letter from Congressman Kettner to President Juniper was read advising him of the receipt of the application for the construction of the ' Jetty and stating that the same had been placed in the hands of the Secretary of War with the recommendation that the same be granted, the letter was ordered filed. Application of Mr. J.H.Cru:•er for the position of inspector of con- struction on the Jetty was referred to Jetty Engineer,Capt Chas T. Leeds, The report of the Coast Road Committee was read, AIoved by trustee H.A.Robinson seconded by trustee Glenn Helms and carried that the report be accepted and that the committee be retained and that they consult with the Supervisors of Orange County, regarding the const- ruction of the proposed road. Letter from the Tax Payers League was read asking the Board to re- consider their former action relative to the reading of the demands each month, the same was ordered filed no action being taken. Plank walk 23d, to 36 street; Moved by trustee H.A.Robinson seconder by trustee G.P.'Iilson and carried that proceedings be started and that the City engineer be instructed to prepare a Resolution coverii the building of a pile su-o,)orted plank walk 12feet in width on the Ocean Front between 23d, and 36 streets. Demand of Newport News; Moved by trustee Glenn Helms seconded by trustee J.C.McCain and carried that the demand of the Newport News for the printing of the special election notice on Jany 19th and Jany 26, having been approved by the Finance committee and the President of the Board , be allowed and a warrant drawn to cover. Vacating Resolution #67; On motion of trustee H.A.Robinson seconded by trustee Glenn Helms and carried, all proceedings heretofore taken under Resolution 767 including the passage and adoption of said Resolution be and the same are hereby vacate and set aside, and all proceedings lated under said resoluti0her.eafter taken be and the same are hereby abandoned. 1 CNZA 179 Application of J.E.Cooley for the sale of a Ferry Franchise, was presented and read, Moved by trustee H.A.Robinson, seconded by trustee G.P.,.Vilson and carried that the application be filed, Perry Franchise Trustee H.A.Robinson withdrew his former motion relative to the sale of a Ferry Franchise and asked that the matter be referred to a committee of the whole, the same was granted and the matter vas referred to a committee of the whole by President Jumper, Board walk on piles 9th street to Alvarado = treet; Moved by trustee G.P.'Wilson seconded by trustee H.A.Robinson and carried that the city engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifications for the construction of a board palk 12 feet in width on wooden piles from the westerly line of 9th, street to the "leste-rly line of Alvarado street. _ Adjourn; Moved by trustee H.A.Robinson Helms and carried that adjournment be February, 20th, 1911.
