The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach,Calif.met in - adjourned session at 7:30 p.m. at the place and date above mentione President Robinson called the meeting to order and on calling the roll the following members responded "Present ". Trustees H.A. Robinson,J..J.Schnitker, Geo.P.Wilson, J.C.McCain and J.P.Greele Absent,none. . Reading of - .7inutes . The minutes of May 8.and May 21_ were read and approved. St nding Committees __ppointcd. The following Standing Committees were appointed by President H.A.Robinson: Finance Committee, Geo.P."Iilson and J.J.Schnitker Street Committee, J.C.McCain and Geo.P.,lilson Police Committee,. J.J.Schnitker and J.P. Greeley. Fire and Water Committee, J.P.Greeley and J.C.McCain Gas Committee, J.C.McCain and J.J.Sclinitker Reading of Communications. Communications vaere read and referred to proper order of business. Ur_finished Business. Bat:iing Suit Ordinance. The City Attorney presented form of Bathing Suit Ordinance and read same to the Board. Messrs Levi H.17allace and Albert Hermes raised the question as to whether or not the Ordinance would infli injury on the owners of bath houses. It was therefore moved by Trustee Greeley,seconded by Trustee McCain and carried that the ' Ordinance be laid over one week. Ferry Franchise. Moved by Trustee Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Uilson and carried that the Ordinance granting Ferry Franchise be passed to second reading. New Businoss. Opening of bids for construction of bourL •.:alk or. Ocean Ave. Five bids for the construction of a board walk on Ocean Ave. between 23rd and 36th Streets were opened and read,the same being as follows: Glenn Helms price per lineal foot, $3.34 Fred Hoffman 11 " " " 3.25 Edgar T.i'lheeler Co. IT " " 4.27 Johnson -Shea Company IT If it " 4.40 Harvey Garber IT if IT IT 5.62 It was moved by Trustee 'Vilson,seconded by Trustee McCain that Resolution No.79 accepting the bid of Fred Hoffman,. 3.25 be adopte On calling the roll all the Trustees voted "Aye" and it was so ordered. It was moved by Trustee Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Greeley and carried that the certified checks and bonds accompanying the bids which were rejected be returned by the Clerk to the respectiv bidders. Disuosition of Com.:unicctions. Letter of F.J.Knight. Moved by Trustee Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Greeley and carried that the application of F.J.Knight for transfer of license of shooting gallery to O.11.Brown be granted. Letter of F.D.Cornoll Co. A petition signed by 105 persons asking for the appoint- ment of 'Uilli-am Ulrich as Deputy I;Iarshal for the summer season wa read. I . Moved by J.C.McCain and seconded by J.P.Greeley that Oscar Collins be appointed Deputy IeIarshal. Motion was declared out of order. Moved by Trustee G-reeley,seconded by Trustee Wilson and carried that the appointment of extra police officer and the pe- tition of T.7illiam Ulrich be referred to the Police Committee and City Marshal. Consideration of _-rotests against openinv c.nd nidening of Bay Ave Protests against the opening and widening of Bay Ave.were presented to the Board.for their consideration. On motion of Trustee Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Wilson,the following reso- lution was passed by the Board. On calling the roll the following voted "Aye ": Trustees Robinson ,Schnitker,iiilson,lZcCain and Greele; Whereas,protests against the opening and widening of Bay Ave. having been filed pursuant to Ordinance No.129 and within thirty days after publication thereof,and said protests having been pre- sented to the Board of Trustees,it is ordered by the City Council that a time for hearing said protests be fixed at the hour of 7:30 p.m.,Monday the 11th day of June,1917,and that the clerk cause notice of the hearing at the time so fixed.by publication in the Ne:rport Nevis,a weekly newspaper published and circulated in the City of Newport Beach,by two insertions in said weekly newspaper. Adjournment. Moved by Trustee 7ilson,seconded by Trustee McCain and carried that the Board adjourn sine die. ,
