The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in reg- ular session at the date and place above mentioned. ROLL. CALL. On calling the roll the following Trustees were found to be present: H.A.Robinson,J.J. Schnitker ,Geo*P.Nilson,J.C.MoCain and J.P.Greeley. Absent none. READING OF MINUTES The minutes of Nov .5th,Nov.12th,Nov.19th,Dee.3rd' and Dec.17th were read "and approved. REPORTS OF HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS. The reports of the Heads of Departments for the months of November and December were read and ordered filed. COMivIUNICATIONS were read and' referred to the proper order of businea ORDINANCE NO.137 ADOPTED. Ordinance No.137 came up for final reading and adoption. It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,Seconded by Trustee J.P.Greeley that Ordinance No.137 be adopted. The roll was called and the following Trustees voted "Aye ": H.A. Robinson, J.J.Schnitker,Geo.P.wilson,J.C. McCain and J.P.Greeley. Noes none,absent none.. R"SOLUTION NO.89. It was moved by Trustee Geo.F.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.P.G Greeley that Resolution No.89 be adopted. The roll was called and the following Trustees respoiided "Aye ": H.A.Robinson,J.J.Schnitker, Ge.o.P.Wilson,J.C.McCain and J.P.Greeley. Noes,None; absent,None. (For text of Resolution N0.69 see Page 245) RESOLUTION NO.90. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by °Trustee J.C. McCain that Resolution No.90 be adopted. The roll was called and the following Trustees voted "Aye ": H. A.Robinson,J.J.Sehnitker,Geo.P. Wilson,J.C.McCain abd J.P.Greeley. Noes none; absent none. RESOLUTION N0.88. to second reading. It was moved by Trustee J.P.Greeley, ec nded by Trustee J.J. Schnitker that Resolution No.88 be passed- roll was called and the following Trustees voted " Aye ": H.A.Robinson,J.J.Schnitker, Geo.P.Wilson,J.C.McCain and J.P.Greeley. Noes none;"absent none. REPORT ON INSTALLATION OF LIGHTS. The Street Committee and the City Electrician reported on the Installation of lights on the ocean front between 23rd and 36th.Sts. It was moved by Trustee J.C.McCain,seconded by Trustee J.J. Schnitker and carried that the report be accepted and that the Stree Committee and the City Electrician be instructed to install said lights as recommended. LETV^RS TO SENATORS PHELAN AND JOHNSON. It was moved by Trustee J.P.Greeley,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. Wilson and duly carried that the President and Clerk of the Board address letters to Senators ' Hiram A.Johnson and Thos F.Phelan asking them to-be present and co- operate at the hearing before the Board of Army Engineers of the report of Capt.Chas.T.Leeds,U.S.Army Engineer, regarding Newport Harbor. THE CO &L NNICATIONS WERE TAKEN UP AND DISPOSED OF AS FOLLOWS: Regard- ing that of A.S.Bradford,it was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconi by Trustee Geo.P.Tvislon and carried that 025.be set aside for the Orange Show of San Bernardino and placed in the hands of the Chamber of Commerce, LETTER OF THE AUTOMOBILE CLUB OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA was by motion of J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C.MeCain and earried,re- ferred to the City Attorney. THE LETTER OF THE PACIFIC TELEPHONE AND TELEGRAPH CO. TO C.G.RODGER was filed. IM r THE EQ@JEST OF THF, NEIPORT HARBOR YACHT CLUB for an anchorage in th Bay was granted by motion of Trustee J.P.Greeley,seconded by Truste J.C.McCain and duly carried and the Clerk instructed to notify them THE LETTER OF JOHN MCMILLAN,VIATER SUPFRINTENDENT,was referred to th Water Committee and the City Engineer. LETTER OF.F.B.SANDERS. It was moved by Trustee J.P.Greeley,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. Wilson and carried that the letter of F.B.Sanders suggesting that the name Newport Beach be changed to Port Orange be taken under consideration. DEMANDS ALLOWED. ° It was moved by Trustee J.P.Greeley,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. Wilson and duly carried that the demands approved by the Finance Committee be allowed and warrants drawn to cover. TEXT OF RESOLUTION NO.89. WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the City. of Newport Beach dii on the 3rd day of December,1917,duly adopt Resolution No.86 declar- its intention to order the improvement of certain` portions of Surf Avenue within the said City; and WHEREAS, said - Resolution of'Intention was'published as provid by law,and notice of�the passage'thereof was duly posted by the Street Superintendent of said City as required by law; and WHEREAS, the time fixed in the Resolution of Intention when and all persons having any objections to the proposed work or im- provement might appear before the said Board of Trustees to show cause why said proposed improvement should not be carried out in* accordance with said Resolution of Intention, was on the 7th day Jangary,1918,at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M. of said day at the regular meetine place of'said Board of Trustees in the City Hall the said City of Newport Beach, and the "Notices of Improvement" ed by the Street Superintendent'also' contained a notice of the d hour and place at which objections might be heard,as provided by and certain protests in writing were delivered to the City Clerk aid Board of Trustees wit the t m� therefor,, and said rottest Are hear c3adn idered,y said Board of Truste o r of 'of post - ay, law, of signed a ma ority o� the area of the property within the asse ment'district as.d'escribed in the Pesolution of Intention to pay th costs and expenses of the proposed work or improvement; NOW,THEREFORE,the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Be do hereby deny said protests against the proposed work or improvem 'this 7th day of January,1918. DISPOSITION OF.BALANCE OF JETTY BONDS. The matter of the disposition of the balance of the Jetty Bon amounting to f23,437.50 was referred to the City Treasurer and the Street Committee. ADJOURNMENT. Moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,Seconded by Trustee J.P.Greeley and carried that the Board adjourn to 7:30 P.M.,Jan.22,,1918. City Clerk.
