The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in reg- ular session at the time and place above indicated. The roll was called and the following Trustees were present: J. J. Schnitker .Geo.P.Wilson,J.C.McCain and L.S.Wilkinson. Absent, J.P.Greeley. It was moved by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.C. McCain and duly carried that Trustee Geo.P.Wilson act as Chairman in the absence of Chairman J.P.Greeley. The minutes of May 6th and May 13th were read and approved as read, The reports of Heads of Departments were read and by motion c of Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.C.MoCain and carried were accepted and ordered filed. The committee appointed to attend to the placing of buoys over submerged rocks in the channel reported that the matter had been attended to. Communications were read and referred to the proper order of business. The Street Superintendent presented the plan of assessment and diagram for the opening of Bay Ave. RESOLUTION NO.96 Resolution No.96,changing and re- establishing the grades of certain portions of Central Avenue and Coast Boulevard,was press. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C.Mc that said Resolution be adopted. The roll was called and the Tru voted as follows: Aves,Trustees Geo .P.Wilson,J.J.Schnitker,J.C.M and L.S.Wilkinson. Noes None, Absent,Trustee J.P.Greeley. ' It was moved by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.J. Schnitker and carried that the salary of the Gas Manager be fixed a $90.per month from the date of the passage of Ordinance No,143 whit: fixes the manner of the fixing of said salary. It was moved by Trustee J.J:Schnitker,seconded by Trustee L.S. Wilkinson and carried that F.L.Rinehart be appointed City Recorder. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J.G. McCain and carried that the matter of sewer and paving be carried over till next meeting. The resignation of J.A.Porter as Marshal and Tax Collector was presented and accepted by motion made by Trustee J.J.Schnitker, seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain and carried. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C. McCain and carried that J.A.Porter be appointed Marshal and Tax Collector at a salary as fixed by Ordinance No.142. The Clerk administered the oath to J.A.Porter. The bond of J.A.Porter was presented and was accepted by motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain and carried. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Edison Company to asce tain their ability to furnish power to the city of Newport Beach to the extent of 209000 volts. It was moved by Trustee L.S.Vlilkinson.seconded by Trustee J...C'.. McCain and carried that the first Tuesday of each month be designate as clean -up day and that the people be requested to conform. By motion of Trustee J.C.McCain,seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitk and carried,the request of Edward D.Morris to operate a lunch room w granted. The application of Pete Peracovich to do the city janitor work and clean up the beach during the summer season was laid over till next meeting. r 2"72 Regarding the report of W.W.Wilson on the disposition of dredg material to property owners,it was moved by Trustee L.S.wilkinson, seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker and carried that Mr.FJilson be in- structed to follow up the negotiations with the Pacific Electric La Co. and represent to them that if they would consider filling their lots and give real estate in exchange for same,the city might be willing to enter into negotiations along that line. The communication of the City Clerk asking for a' Deputy for th6 months of June and July was-laid over till next meeting. , The request of wm.0'Meara to transfer his bakery lieenseā€¢to C.S.Wilson was,granted by motion of Trustee J.C.McCain,seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker and carried. , Regarding the request of D.W.Tait for an additional $45.salary, for collecting garbage during the four summer months,the Clerk was instructed to write to Mr.Tait that the Board was willing to grant the increase under the provision that he would file a monthly state- ment signed by the Street Superintendent to the effect that his work had been faithfully performed,his warrant to be drawn each month only on the presentation of such certificate. Adjournment was taken to 7:30 p.m.,June 10,1918 by motion of Trustee J.C.MeCain,seconded by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson and carried. 1
