Wilson and carried that Wm.McCulloch be appointed Plumbing Inspector. CALL FOR AN ELECTION FOR SPECIAL TAX LEVY OF 15¢. It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.Mc- Cain and duly carried that the Board call a special election for a levy of 15� for special promotion purposes. The Board adjourned by motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker and carried. City Clerk. City Hall,Newport Beach,Calif.,Aug.5,1918, 7;30 P.M. The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach bet at the place and on the hour above noted. On calling the roll all the Trustees were found to be present,as follows: Trustees J.P.Greeley, J. J. Schnitker ,Geo.P.17ilson,J.C.McCain and L.S.Wilkinson. The minutes of July 12th were read,corrected and approved,those of July 17th-and July 22nd were read and approved as read. The monthly reports of heads of departments were read,and by motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by 'Trustee V.J.Schnitker and carried,were accepted and ordered filed. Trustee L.S.17ilkinson reported on the furnishing of water to Newport Heights. Committee was conti-nued. The Committee appointed for-the investigation of furnishing of electricty for domestic use on Newport Heights by the Edison Co. made report. It was moved bar Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trusts J.J.Schnitker and carried that�the Street Committee confer with the So.Calif.Edison Company,and notify the City Attorney of the result of said conference,and if the conference is not satisfactory,the City Attorney to take such steps as may seem necessary. In the matter of the Railroad crossings at 26th St. it was moved Trustee L.S.t7ilkinson,seconded by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson and carried at.the City Attorney confer with the Railroad Companies,quoting the vice of the Railroad Commission. Trustee L.S.4Vilkinson reported on the camping situation and recoi *Wended that steps be taken for the city to obtain a certain tract pro. Trustee J.J.Schnitker reported the completion of lattice on the ort station on 22nd St. The communications were read. The request of Jackson- Norton Co.to stage a set for the Universa: Co.at the Jetty was granted by motion of Trustee J.C.IvIcCai-n,sec- d by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson and carried. tided with water etc.for campers next season. It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.McC, and carried that the Water Superintendent install a water tap-at 15th St.and one at end of road at end of sand spit. ' It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.MeC, and carried that Mr.Sharps be authorized to supply the school house toilets with paper for the use of the campers. W Regarding the request of C.G.Rodger for an increase of salary fo the-care of street lights,it Vas moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded 'by Trustee J.C.McCain and carried,that his salary be 050. per month from the let of August. "The letter of Walter D.walsh 'regarding.new fire hose was to the Fire and Water Committee. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Geo.P.l ?'Wilson and carried,that the specifications prepared by the City Engineer for dredging channel of Newport"Bay,approved the 5th day of Aug.,191 , be adopted as the specifications for that purpose. Ordinance No.144 was presented and by motion of Trustee J.J. Schnitker,seconded by 'Trustee Geo.P.wilson and carried,was passed to - second reading. The matter of re- naming streets was referred to the Street Committee for further report. 'The bulkhead on the Bay Front near Bay Island was reported.as falling in owing to the high tides. The matter was referred to the S eet Superintendent 'to take such steps' as were deemed necessary to protect, the sidewalk. It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,Seconded by Trustee J.0.11w an'd carried that the demands be allowed and warrants ordered drawn t cover. The matter of the sharp 'turn in the road at 19th St.and Central Ave.was referred to Lew H.wallace for report. Ordinance No.145,providing for ten dollar peddling license was presented and by motion of Trustee Geo.P.wilson,seco.nded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,and carried,was passed to second reading. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. 47ilson and carried that the'Street Superintendent be instructed to dirt the alley between 22nd.and 23rd.streets. By motion of Trustee J.C.McCain,seconded by Trustee rxeo.P.wils and carried,adjournment was taken to 7 :30 P.M.,Aug.19,1918. . S
