The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the..City; of Newport Beach,Calif.,was. held at the place and hour as above noted. The roll was called and the following Trustees responded "Present ": Trustees J. P: Gre' el' ey ,J.J.Soliziitker,Geo.P.Wileon. J.C,McC'ain and L.S. Wilkinson. Absent,none. The minutes of Nov.4th,16th and 20th were read and and approved ' as read. The reports of heads of departments were read and on motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.MeCain and carried,were accepted and ordered filed. .The report of the City Attorney on the lease of Southern Pacific Company to the City of street right of way at Twenty Sixth St. was rea4:: It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seoonded by Trustee J.J. Sehnitker and carried that the same be executed. W.W.Wilson reported on the'sale of dredged material. It was moved by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker'and carried that the same be accepted and that the contracts secured by Mr.Wilson be executed by the City. Lew H.Wallace reported on exchange of dredged material with the Pacific Electric Co. for real property. Committee was continued. The communications were read. The reports for October and November of J.A.Armitage,Secretary of.the West Coast Improvement Assoc.were read and ordered filed. Joseph Ferguson's protest of payment of taxes was filed. ' Regarding the request.of the League of California Municipalities for a statement of the contemplated improvements for the coming year, the Clerk was instructed to make answer,by motion of Trustee L.S. ,Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.J.Sohnitker and carried. The letter of the Capital Issues Committee was filed. It was moved by Trustee J.C.MoCain,seeonded by Trustee Geo.P.Wil son and oarried,that the Clerk be instructed to notify the Automobile Club of Southern California that the Board would grant them s hearing at the next regular meeting regarding the passage of an ordinance rega- lating auto signals. By motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.MoCain and carried the Clerk was instructed to prepare application to the Government for permission to dredge a channel in the bay,and the City Engineer was instructed to prepare maps to accompany the same. It was moved by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.C. McCain and carried that the Tag Collector be authorized to employ help at a cost not to exceed $75. to send out delinquent tax notices for the year 19117 -18. By motion of Trustee J.C.MoCain,seconded by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson ' and earried,the City Engineer was instructed to make an examination df the condition of the bulkhead wall around Balboa Island. • I It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.J.Schuit- ker and carried that there be appointed a committee including the City Engineer to investigate cost of protecting the shore and of the Jetty. The President appointed the City Engineer,J.C.MoCain and Lew H.Wallaoe. The President of the Board appointed a committee consisting of Trustee, L.SlWilkinson,Trustee Geo.P.Wilson and Lew H.Wallace to out- line an industrial district, It was moved by Trustee J.C.IfeCain,seconded by Trustee J.J.Sohn t- ker and carried that the North American Dredging Co.be instructed to! begin dredging at Twenty Fourth Street. _l C\ZA 295 By motion of Trustee J.J.Sohnitker,eeconded by Trustee J.C.McCa and carried,the Street Superintendent was instructed to post notices of no shooting within 600 feet of any inhabited building. The matter of cutting out part of the street lights and the matter of the renewal of bases for light globes was referred to the Street Committee with power to act. The matter of checking up city boundary line at the point affect. ing the Irvine Ranch was referred to the City Attorney. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. Wilson and carried that the demands be allowed and warrants ordered drawn to cover.. By motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded.by Trustee J.C. and carried,the Board adjourned to 7 :30 P.M.,Dec.9,1918. City Clerk. City Hall,Newport Beach,Calif.,7 :30 P.M.,Dec.9,1918. The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in reg- ular session at the place and on the date as above noted. The-Roll was called and the following Trustees were present: Trustees J.P. Greeley, J. J. Sghnitker ,Geo.P.Wilson,J.C.MoCain and L.S.Wilkinson. Absent,none. The Minutes of Dec.2 were read and approved as read. President J.P.Greeley referred the matter of the purchase of [fire hose to the Fire Committee. the City Attorney presented the Grant of Easement from the Pacific Electric Company for the crossing at 26th St.with the reoom- medation that the same be accepted and executed. Thd'communieations were read. The letter of the Capital Issues Committee granting the privileg of constructing a sewer system was ordered filed with the proceedings filed written report. The ommitteb appointed ._ on the protection of the shore end of the Jetty It was moved by Trustee L.S.Wilkineon,seconded by Trustee IGeo.P.Wilson and carried that the report be accepted and the matter jdiscussed under head of Unfinished Business. A supplemental contract with the North American Dredging Co.was mte'd by the City Engineer Paul E.Kressly,and it was moved by ee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson and carried, the same be executed by the city. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seeonded by Trustee J.C. ' !MoCain and carried that the supplemental contract with the North Amer. liean Dredging Co. be placed in the hands of the City Engineer with thi linstruetione that if signed by the North American Dredging Co.,they b� permitted to begin dredging at 16th St.,otherwise at 24th St. It was moved by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. on and carried that the matter of formulating an Amendment to the or Enabling Act be presented by a committee consisting of the ident of the Board,the City Attorney and Lew H.Wallaoe at a meet - of the Legislative Session to be held in Santa Ana Dec.14,1918. By motion of Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seoond.ed by Trustee Geo.P.
