The matter of cutting out part of the street lights and the matter of the renewal of bases for light globes was referred to the Street Committee with power to act. The matter of checking up city boundary line at the point ad ing the Irvine Ranch was referred to the City Attorney. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker I seconded by Trustee Geo.P. Wilson and carried that the demands be allowed and warrants ordered drawn to cover.. By motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded • by Trustee J.C.MoCain and carried,the Board adjourned to 7:30 P.M.,Dec.9,1918, City Clerk, City Hall,Newport Beach,Calif.,7:30 P.M.,Dee.9,1918. The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in reg- ular session at the place and on the date as above noted, The-Roll was ealied and the following Trustees were present: Trustees J.P. Greeley, J. J. Sghnitker ,Geo.P.Wilson,J.C.MoCain and L.S.Wilkinson. Absent,none. The Minutes of Dec.2 were read and approved as read. President J.P.Greeley referred the matter of the purchase of fire hose to the Fire Committee. the City Attorney presented the Grant of Easement From the Pacific Electric Company for the crossing at 26th St.with the recom- medation that the same be accepted and executed, Th8'c6mmunieations were read. The letter of the Capital Issues Committee granting the privileg' of constructing a sewer system was ordered filed with the proceedings) filed written report. The ommitteo appointed __ on the protection of the shore end of, the Jetty It was moved by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee IGeo.P.Wilson and carried that the report be accepted and the matter discussed under head of Unfinished Business. A supplemental contract with the North American Dredging Cc was presented by the City Engineer Paul E.Bressly,and it was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by.Trustee Geo.P.Wilson and carried, Ithat the same be executed by the city. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seeonded by Trustee J.C. Motain and carried that the supplemental contract with the North Amer. Rican Dredging Co. be placed in the hands of the City Engineer with the linstruetions that if signed by the North American Dredging Co.,they be ,permitted to begin dredging at 16th St:.,otherwise at 24th St. It was moved by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. lson and carried that the matter of formulating an Amendment to the rbor Enabling Act be presented by a committee consisting of the esident of the Board,the City Attorney and Lew H.Wallace at a meet - g of the Legislative Session to be held in Santa Ana Dec.14,1918. By motion of Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,second.ed by Trustee Geo.P. Tlson and duly earried,the City Attorney was instructed to prepare )roceedings to call an election for a bond issue for harbor improve The letter of Virginia S.Baverstock regarding protection ofwa7 surrounding Balboa Island was £iled,said matter being under considi 296. Trustee J.J.Sehnitker and duly carried,was ordered filed,and to be d ignated Resolution No.103,and referred to the City Attorney to be pl and written ip formal condition for final adoption by the-Board of Trustees: RESOLUTION NO.103 A resolution of the City of Newport Beach,a munic- ipal corporation of the sixth class,incorporated under the laws of the State of Californla,by the legislative branch of said oity,being the Board of Trustees thereof,determining and declaring that the public interest and also the public necessity demands the.acquisition and construction of a municipal im- provement in the City of Newport Beach,to -wit: the completion of the widening,straightening and deepen- ing of the channel of.Newport Bay, a navigable water flowing through and adjoining the-City-of Newport Beach, in order to render the said Newport Bay navigable for the purposes of marine commerce and travel, in order to carry out the objedts,purposes and powers of the City of Newport Beach; the cost of which municipal improve- ment will be too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual income and revenue of the City of Newport Beach, By motion of Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seeonded by Trustee J.J. Schnitker and duly carried,adjournment was taken to 7:30 P.M.,Dee. 23,19i8. . NOTE. . Wilson and carried that the Grant of Easement from the Pacific Electric Company for a crossing at 26th St. be executed by the City. i It was moved by Trustee J.J.Sohnitker,seconded by Geo.P.Wilson and carried that the Street Superintendent be instructed to proceed with the construction of two groins to protect the shore end of the Jetty according to the recommendation of the City Engineer. Under the heading of new business Trustee J.C.McCain presented ' for consideration by the Board of Trustees a proposed Resolution con- cerning the further improvement of Newport Bay.
