Trustee L.S.Wilkinson reported on water service of Newport Heights. It was moved by. Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C. McCain and carried that $100.be placed at the disposal of City Attorrjey Clyde Bishop for expense conne.eted with securing passage of amendment to enable the city to control the tidelands of Newport Bay. By motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain and carried,adjournment was taken to 7 :30 P.M.,,J nary 20,1919. City Clerk. Newport ,Beach,Calif.,,7:30 P.M.,January 20,1919. The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach,Calif. met at the City Hall at the hour above noted. The roll was called and the following Trustees answered "Preseni ": Trustees J.P. Greeley ,J.J.Schnitker,J.C.MoOain and.L.S.Nilkinson; absent,Trustee,Geo.P.^ilson. The Communications were read. The letter of Virginia A.Baverstock regarding protection of on Balboa Island was referred to the City Engineer. ORDINANCE NO.147. , Ordinance No.147,having been placed in due and proper form and condition for final cpnsideration by the Board of Trustees,was read considered. Officers of election were appointed and Ordinance No.147 entitled as follows: An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach,a municipal corporati of the sixth clase,incorporated under the laws of the State of Calif nia,a city of this State whose corporate limits include a navigable of water, to -wit: a portion of Newport Bay,a navigable arm of the Pa Ocean,ordering the submission to the qualified voters of the city of Newport Beach the proposition of incurring a debt for the purpose of completion_ in the city of Newport Beach of.a municipal improvement,a set forth in Resolution No.103 of said city,to -wit: The completion of a channel by further widening,deepening and straightening the channel of Newport Bay in said city by dredging th same,the said channel when widened,deepened,straightened and complet to be approximately 125 ft.in width and 10 ft.in depth at low water the: Pacific Ocean, and to extend from a point at or near Bulkhead St No.121,as said station is located and appears upon the map showing h bor lines of Newport Bay,approved by the War Department of the Unite States on the 18th day of January,1917, southeasterly pursuing the w of Newport Bay,and within the city of Newport Beach,to a point at o near Bulkhead Station No.107,as said station is located and appears said Map,being the shore end of a jetty constructed at the entrance Newport Bay; U the on Calling a special election for that purpose,reciting the objects and purposes for which the indebtedness is proposed to be incurred,tl'e estimated cost of the completion of the public iMprovement,the amount of the principal of the indebtedness to be incurred therefor,and thej rate of interest to be paid on said indebtedness,fixing the date on which such special election will be held,the manner of holding such election, and the voting for or against the incurring of such indebtedness; and prodiding that in all particulars not recited in this Ordinance,suchl election shall be held as provided by law for holding municipal elections in the city of Newport Beach; was passed by the affirmative vote oP the following named members of the Board of Trustees;to -wit: J.P.Greeley, J.J.Schnit}ier,J.C.McCain and L.S.Wilkinson; noes,none;absent Geo.P.Wilson Ordinance No 147,having been passed by the vote of more than two - thirds of all the members of the Board of Trustees of the city of ICNZA 301 Newpor ea t Bch,the President of the Board of, Trustees declared the same passed,and signed the same. By motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCa and carried the City Engineer was instructed to provide the bulkhead necessary for dredging operations in the bay. It was moved by Trustee J.C.McCain.,seconded by ,Trustee J.J. Schnitker and carried that the Board adjourn. _ City Clerk. City Hall, Newport Beach,Calif.,7:30 P.M.,Feb.3,1919. The Board of Trustdes of the City of Newport Beach met in reg- ular session at the time and place above noted. The roll was called and the following Trustees were present: Trustees J.P.Greeley, J.J. Schnitker ,Geo.P.Vlilson,J.C.MeCain and L.S.1,7ilkinson; absent,none: The minutes of January 6th,January 13th and Janu'sxy 20th were read and approved as read. The reports of Heads of Departments were read and by motion of ITrustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,and carried, were accepted and ordered filed. W. 7.Wilson reported on sales of dredged material. Trustee Geo.P.,7ilson' reported for the Street.Committee on wall protection of Balboa Island, on street numbering, and on ferry servic ' I It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C. �yleCain and carried that the Board go on record as favoring the pro Amendment to the Motor Vehicle Act,and that the Clerk communicate fact to Assemblyman Walter Eden and Senator S.C.Evans asking their ;support; also to Mayor F.T.Woodman of Los Angeles. By motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. 'Wilson and carried,the Board declared itself in favor of the State's issuing bonds for highway improvement between Oxnard and Serre,and instructed the Clerk to notify Assemblyman Walter Eden and Senator S.C.Evans. By motion of Trustee J;J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. Wilson and carried,Levr H.Wallace was requested to draft a resolution to present to I,Taj.Chas.T.Leeds asking that the obstruction placed on the westerly side of the Santa Ana River at a point near the Southerr Pacific Railroad be removed. It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Geo.r. '.7ilson and carried that the following Resolution be adopted: 7hereas, on the 9th day of December,1918,there was filed with the Clerk of the City of Newport 'Reach a petition asking that there be submitted to the qualified electors of the city of Newport Beach the ' question: "Shall the sale of alcoholic liquors be licensed in this city ? "; and ",hereas,the Clerk of said city thereafter,and within the time provided by law,certified,the said petition to be sufficient; and .7hereas,the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach did ,thereupon call a special election to be held in the city of Newport Beach on Tuesday,the 28th day of January,1919,at which special elect- ion there was submitted the question: "Shall the sale of alcoholic liquors be licensed in this city ?" to the qualified electors of said city; and 77hereas, the said special election was called and held in the manner provided by law; and
