The roll was called and all the Trustees were present as follows:- Trustees J.P.Greeley, J. J. Schnitker ,Geo.P.19ilson,J.C.MCCain and L.S.Wilkinson. with. The reading of the minutes of the last meeting'was dispensed The reports of heads of departments were read end by motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain and duly carried, were accepted and ordered filed. The report of the committee on staking'channel and placing light on jetty<was read, also the report of the Tax Collector covering the collections for the past year. It was moved by Trustee L.S.Vdilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.G. McCain that t-he matter of establishing 'a public toilet at the ferry landing on Balboa Island, be placed in the hands of the Street Commit The roll was was called and all the Trustees voted "Aye" Trustee L..S.Wilkinson reported no progress in securing domestic light service for the residents of Newport Heights from the Southern California Edison Company. I This being the first Monday in June,and the Tax Collector having delivered to the Board of Trustees,by filing the same with the Clerk,+ complete.delinquent list of all persons and property and owing taxes, and at the same time returned the assessment roll. In the delinquent list so delivered there was set down in numerical order all matters a] things contained in the assessment book relating to delinquent person= and property. The Board of Trustees,having carefully compared said delinquent list with the assessment roll and being satisfied that it contained a full and true statement of all taxes due and unpaid,the Tax Collector was duly credited with all taxes charged against him on the assessment roll,the amount of which was $48,014:79, and in turn the Board of Trustees directed the Clerk to charge the Tax Collector with the amour of taxes due on the delinquent list,together with all penalties due thereon,and an additional sum of Fifty Centb ($0.50) advertising fee on-each lot,parcel or tract of land assessed separately,and each asses went of personal property so delinquent,the amount of which is 12,779.88 The Board of Trustees further directed the Clerk to forthwith deliver to the Tax Collector said delinquent list. It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.i7ilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCE snd carried that the Street, Superintendent be authorised to purchase the necessary trash burners for the use of the city. communications were read and referred to the proper order of ness. RDINNANCE NO.151. . Ordinance No.151 was presented for final adoption. The roll was alled .and all the 'Trustees voted "A7e" as 'followb: Trustees. J.P.Gree: . J. It was moved by Trustee J.C.McCain,secondea by Trustee Geo.P.1,7ils nd carried that the application of Florian Bosovich for permission tc stablish a fish market on the bay front be filed. The communication of R.G.Roberts was referred to the Street ommittee. : Lt s- 314 In re the application of Harold J.Henry for a position as Polic 0£ficer,it was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,6econded by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson and carried that he be appointee from day to day until the next meeting of the Board at a saiary of $3.50 per day, ,The application of Mrs ;B.Gruen.for license to operate a lunch room was granted by motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J1C.McCain and duly carried. By motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain ' and duly carried,the appointment of Ed Rodgers,Joseph Taylor,Nm.Ulrioh and Harry Wilson as deputy marshals without pay by City, Marshal:J,A. Porter was confirmed. Permission was granted G.J.Seielstad to conduct a restaurant on Lot 6,Block 12,Balboa Tract,by motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,secon by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson and duly carried. The application of Grace Denman to cross sidewalk with motor vehicle and to cut down curb was granted-by motion of:Trustee'L.S,Uilki4son, seconded by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson and earried,it being especially stipu- lated that the cutting of the curb be done in a manner acceptable to the Street Superintendent. The application of A.Suttora for permission to build a wharf laid over for two weeksgor until next meeting. The application of Joseph Ferguson to construct marine ways was laid over till next meeting.` [ The 'letter of 77.G.Ebersole,United States Naval Air Station,San Diego,was referred to the Clerk for reply and request for the prese: of seaplanes in the Bay on June 7th or 8th. In re the staking of the ehannel,it was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnit- , ker,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain and carried-.that the matter be placed in the hands of the City Engineer with power to act. It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Tilson,seconded by Trustee J.C,MeC'ain and carried that-the City Engineer be instructed to start procee&inge to dirt the alley between Alvarado and Washington Streets. , It was moved by Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. Wilson and carried that the City Engineer be instructed to prepare ordinance naming the street condemned by the city from Twenty -thir4 Street to Thirtieth Street,and also naming the streets recently deeds to the city located east of the Rhine,and to establish the grades on these streets. ' By motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson, seconded by Trustee J.C.McC and carried,the Clerk was instructed to transfer to the Sreet Fund amounts due said Fund. RESOLUTION NO.105. Resolution No.105 was presented. It was moved by Trustee Geo.P. 7ilson,seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker that the saute be, adopted. Th roll was called and the following Trustees voted "Aye "; Trustees J.P. Greele, J. J. Schnitker ,Geo.P.Wilson,'J.C.MCCain and L.S.Wilkinson. Noes,none; absent,none. RESOLUTION NO.106. In the matter of the recommendation of the lWater Superintendent that the Salary of the Superintendent be made x150. and the Pumper $110.per month from June let.,it was moved,by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson, seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain that the recommendation be accepted. The roll was called and all the Trustees voted "Aye "as'follows: Trustees J.P.Greeley,J.J. Schnitker ,Geo.P.Tilson,J.C.McCain and L.S.Tilkinson. ' The matter of condemning -right of way,in Central Avg* was to the City Attorney and the City Engineer. The demands were allowed and warrants ordered drawn to cover by motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCaiii and carried. -The request of the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co.to construct a line-along Park.Ave.,Balboa,Island and across the.channel to the mainland was granted by motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by .Trustee J.C.McCain and carried. P.Wilson and carried that the recommendation of the Street Committee ;be'accepted and that the Marshal arrange for deputies to control park. ing on paved streets when necessary.
