City-Hall, Newport Beach, Calif. July 3rd 1919
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in special
session'ealled by President J.P.Greely: •
The President called the meeting to order and the roll was called
showing there were present, Trustee; J.P.Greely, J.J.Schnitker,
J.C.MoCain, and A.L.Heard. Absent Trustee L.S,Wilkinson.
The call was read showing that the Board had been convened to take
under consideration the ferry service between Balboa Island and
the mainland of the City.of Newport Beach.
Two petitions were Filed with the Board , one containing 63 -
names and one containing 5 names, requesting that J.A.Beek be
in charge of the.Balboa Island Perry._
,Separate contracts for operating the ferry, were presented to
the Board of Trustees by J.A.Beek, and J.W.Taylor.
On motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker, seconded by Trustee J.C.MeCain
and carried, the clerk was instructed to notify Wilson'Bros., of
Balboa, Calif., to appear before the Board Monday, July 7, 1919,
at 7.30 P.M.; to show cause why thier contract for pperating the
Balboa Island Perry should not be forfeited.
The propositions for pperating the ferry presented to the Board
by J.A.Beek• and J.w.Taylor were refered to a committee of the
whole for consideration, to report at nest meeting, on motion of
Trustee J.J.Schnitker, seconded by Trustee A.L.Heard and carried.
A commuication was read from the Balboa Island Improvment Assn,
requesting the Board to be present in a body at thier public
flag raising ceremony, on Balboa Island, at 2 P.M. July 4, 1919.
With the consent of the Board the President accepted the invation
including the City Atorney.
All business being attended to adjpurnment was taken upon motion of
Trustee J.J.Schnitker, seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain and carried.
