Monday, July 7, 1919 at the City Hall. The ro was called and all the Trustees were present as follows; Trustees J.P.Greely, J.J.Schnitker, A.L.Heard, J.C.McCain and L.S.Wilkinson, The Viinute.e of the 66atingeofffiune 2, June 23, and special meetings June 26, and July 3, were read and approved as corrected: The reports of heads of departments for.month of June, also for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1919, were read and upon motion of J.C.: seconded by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson and carried, were accepted and or filed, Trustee L.S.Wilkinson reported for'the committee on electric service for Newport Heights. The committee was continued with instructions tc have a definite proposition to present to the Board at next meeting. The President of the Board appointed Trustee A.L.Heard as a member of the street committee and chairman of the police committee to take the place of Geo. P.Wilson, I• I It alias moiled by Txtustee L.S.Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee J'C.MeCaix and carried, that the City property between 15th and 16th'sts. on the bay front be set aside isaa camping ground. That the water superintex be instructed to pipe water to property and the matter of toilet facilities be refered to the proper authorities at once. `Committee The street4was given power to act in arranging camping grounds on motion of Trustee J:'J.Schnitker, seconded by Trustee J.C.MoCain and ,carried. Water committee reported choking up of sewers and extensions needed at it cost'of $150.00 to $200.00. The oommuioations.�were read and refered to the proper order of bus It appearing to the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport. Beach, that Wilson Bros., C6.'have not given full, odmplete , prompt and faithful performance of the terms and provisions of the contract between it and the City of Newport Beach, concerning the opperation of the ferry between Balboa Island and the mainland of the City of Newport Beach, dated the tenth day of March, 1919, and the Wilson B Co. having been notified to show cause before the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach, at the hour of 7930 P.M. on the seven day of July, 1919# having failed to do so, and no cause appearing, motion of Trustee of J.C.MeCain, seconded by Trustee A.L.Heard and carried, it was ordered that the Board of Trustees, of the City of Newport Beach, Calif. exeersize the right reserved to it by the to of said contract dix$$�tXBX X5XK8 $ d$Xt1ie1XXU9X and that the said contract be and is hereby terminated, and the clerk instructed to notify Wilson Bros Co. of that fact. The roll was called and all Trustees voted "aye" as follows; Trustees J.P.Greely, J.J.Schnitker, A.L.Heard, J.C.McCain and L.S.Wilkinson, on motion of Trustee J.C.McCain, seconded by Trustee A.L.Heard and carried, the application of J.A.Beek for contract to opperate ferry between Balboa Island and the mainland of the City of Newport Beach, was granted to take effect on the'Eight day of July, 1919, and when J.A.Beek shall file with the clerk of the City of Newport Beach, a a bond with at least two good and sufficient sureties, or a solvent surety in the sum of $1000,00, condition for the faithful performanc� of said contract,thexi the President and clerk of the Board of Truste of the City of Newport Beach, are instructed to sign the same in the name of the City; Roll Call shows as follows; Ayes, Trustees, J.P.Gr J.J.Schnitker, A.L.Heard, J.C.MoCain# and L.S.Wilkinson. Request of Geo.C.Conklin for permission to cross sidewalk with automobiles was granted subject to the approval of the street Supt. on motion of Trustee J.J.Sohnitker seconded by Trustee -J.C.MoCain and carried. In front of Lot 29 Blk 9, East Newport. Request of Mrs.Long to repair and extehd pier was eefered. to the City Engineer. Same being in front of LOts 13 and * of Xe�� '2 Blk. I Balboa Tract, East side div. < Letter from Herbert J.Gondge..regarding check signed by Albert Hermes, refered to city clerk for reply with instructions to furnish Mr. Goudge with Mr. Hermes address. The report of J.A.Armitage for the South Coast Improvment _iseln. was read.It :.was moved_•by-f Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by Trustee =:L.Heard and carried the report be3 accepted and His contract renewed for three months. Moved by Trustee J.C.MeCain seconded,by Trustee A.L.Heard and•'. carried that the 24 applications for renewal of business licenses be granted. On motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker seconded by J.C.McCain and carried, City Marshall was authorised to appoint a polite m6fieer fo3 a period of three months at a compensation not to exceed .rp50.00 per month. Same' to' be recomen'ded by the. City Clerk. It was moved by Trustee J.C.Mopain seconded by J.J.Schnitker and carried that the question of raising salarys of city officials ' be refered to a committee of the whole. Demands #1 to /04 inclusive all approved by the finance committee were presented and allowed and warrants ordered drawn on motion of Trustee J.C.MoCain, seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker and carried.
