City Hall, Newport Beach, Aug. 12, 1919,
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
adjourned at 9 :30 A. M. August 12,.1919.
The roll was called showing the following were present:
Trustees., J. P. Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, A. L. Heard,.J. C.
McCain, and L. S. Wilkinson.
The bond of Ibc -iie Simberg -, with Ella Simberg and Felix
Z,g,. Modjeska, ac,,_ __;Sureties. , 7ias presented.. On motion of
Trustee L. S. Wkinson, seconded by Trustee J. J. Schnitker
and carried, was accepted and ordered filed.
Trustee ?Wilkinson reported no further progress on the
electric light situation on Newport Heights.
.On motion of Trustee L,. ;S. Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee
J. C-. McCain, and carried., City Electrician puss instructed to
furnish data , on the required extensions needed to furnish.
electricity to residents of the City of Newport Beach in
out lying districts.
Ordinance,No. 156.
Trustee L. S. Wilkinson made a motion, seconded by
Trustee J. J. Schn3tker, that Ordinance No,. 156 be placed on
final passage. Trustee Md Cain offered substitute motion,
seconded by Trustee A. L. Heard, th6t Sedtion one,,of-0:tdinance
No.:156 be amended to read $,135,00, in place of $150.00.
Roll call showed as follows:- Ayes, Trustees J. P. Greeley,
A. L. Heard, and J. C. McCain, Noes Trustees J. J. Schnitker,
an; L. S. Wilkinsoh. Absent none. President Greeley de-
claied'the amendment adopted.'

On.motion of Trustee ,J. C. Mo }n,, seconded by Trustee
A. L. Heard, Ordinance No. 156, uas p aped on final passage, by
the following vote to -wit. Ayes, Trustees J. P. Greeley,
A. L. Heard, and J. C. McCain, Noes Trustees J. J. Schnitker,
and L. S. Wilkinson,
On motion of Trustee J. C. McCain, seconded by Trustee
A, L. Heard, the salary of the Street Department and Gas Depart-
ment heads was made $135.00 per month, by the following vote
to -wit: Ayes Trustees J. P. Greeley, A, L, Heard, and J. C.
McCain, Noes Trustees J. J. Schnitker, and L. S. Wilkinson.
On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson, seconded by
Trustee J. C. McCain and carried, the Street Committee was
instructed to confer with the Balboa Island Improvement
association , to arrange a meeting with them and the Board of
Trustees of the City of Newport Beach, to discuss the Island
sewer question .
On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson, seconded by
Trustee J. C. McCain and carried, the Street Committee was
instructed to take up With the Water Superintendent, the matter
of extending sewers where needed.
On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker, seconded by
Trustee A. L. Heard and carried, adjournment was taken until
9:30 A. M. August 13, 1919.
