M. on above date. The meeting was called to order by President J. P. Greeley. The roll was called as follows: Present, Trustees J. P. Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, Conrad Richter, L. S. Wilkinson. a Ibsent, Trustee Art L. Herd. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The .communications were taken up and the one from the Orange County Improvement Association in regard to redeeming certain lots Which had been sold to the City for taxes, was referred to the superintendent of Streets. A communication of commendation for the interest taken in a school at Riverside was referred to Trustee J. J. Schnitker. The communication.from the destern States Automobile Association n regard to a municipal parking place was laid on the table. UNFINISHED BUSINESS. ORDINANCE NO. 168. Ordinance No. 168, "An Ordinance of the City of Newport Beach declaring it to be a misdemeanor for any person, either as owner or occupant, of.any house, building or•rstrueture in the City of kewport Beach to neglect, fail or refuse to display thereon the proper number of such house, building or structure, and prescribing a penalt .or all violations thereof," was placed on final passage. The roll was called and the Ordinance adopted by the following vote, to -wit: Ayes, Trustees, J. P. Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, Conrad Richter, L. S. ;Iilkinson. Noes, Trustees, none. Absent, Trustee Art L. Heard. ORDINANCE NO. 169. Ordinance No. 169, "An ordinance of the City of Newport Peach declaring it to be a misdemeanor for any person or persons to make, light, or cause to be made or lighted, certain fires within the City of Newport Beach, and prescribing a penalty for all violations thereof," was placed on final passage. The roll was called and the Ordinance adopted by the following vote, to -wit: Ayes, Trustees, J. P. Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, Conrad Rishte L.. S. :7ilkinson. Noes, Trustees, none. Absent, Trustee Art L. Heard. +a BUSINESS. Trustee J. J. Schnitker introduced a proposed ordinance calling Ln election for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City of Newport Beach, a proposition of incurring a bonded indebt- edness for the stm of N50,000.00 for the purpose of the completion of he rubble mound jetty at the entrance of Newport Bay. The ordinance Vas condidered, and on motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by rustee L. S. ',7ilkinson and carried, it was ordered filed, assigned No. 170, and referred to the City Attorney to be put in proper form cor final consideration of the Board of Trustees. Trustee L. S. Wilkinson introduced a proposed ordinance concerning the raising of tap rates in and for the City of Newport Beach, which was discussed and considered, and on motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Conrad Richter and carried, the ordinance was ordered filed, assigned No. 171, and referred to the Ci Jbity Attorney to be put in proper form for final action of the Board of Trustees. ' On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Conrad Richter and carried the salary of J. H. Van Pelt at the pumping plan 16as raised 025.00 per month, making the salary from July let 1920 135.00 per month. On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee onrad Richter and carried, the application of W. C. Simmons for perrp't and.license to operate a dDoll Stand" on Lot A Block 11 Balboa Tract, was granted, and check for $40.00 accompanying same was retained. On motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee L.S. w ilkinson and carried, the meeting adjourned to blonday, July 26 at (1:30 P. Al.
