Wilkinson referred to the request of the Fire Chief for a siren which met with some discussion, and it was the .prevailing opinion that we should have it so constructed that the telephone operators can sound it at the first call of fire. The matter was referred to the Fire and Water Committee and Fire Chief to make a recommendation at the.next meeting with the probable cost of same. The matter of the completion of the jetty was taken up and discussed, and as the Committee could get no satisfaction out of Mr. jLedbetter, on motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee Conrad Richter and.carried, the Clerk was instructed to readvertise 'or bids on the work of completing the jetty. ' On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee L. S Wilkinson and carried, demands No. 631.to 700 inclusive having been signed and approved by the Finance Committee, be allowed and warrants drawn for same. On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded.by Trustee red Richter and carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. Monday, March 28, 1921. �r — ard of rus ee . The meeting was called to order by President J. P. Greeley. The roll was called as follows: Present, Trustees. d. P. Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, Geo. P. Wilson, Conrad Richter, L. S. Wilkinson. Absent, Trustees None. The call of the special meeting was read and ordered filed, nd City Attorney Bishop referred to the business embodied in the all, namely, The matter of considering the adoption and, if advisable, o adopt a resolution concerning the employment of the labor and the urchasing of the material for repairing the jetty.eonstructed at the ntrance to Newport Harbor by the City itself. 420 The matter was discussed at length and the following Resoluti was presented: WHEREAS, the City.of Newport Beach did heretofore offer for sale and did sell its municipal bonds in the sum of $50,000.00 for t: repair of a jetty constructed at the -entrance to Newport Harbor, and thereafter advertised for more than ten days, to -wit for two weeks is the Newport News, a paper published in.the City of Newport Beach, fo: proposals or bids for furnishing the labor and materials for the purpose of repairing said jetty and . WHEREAS, all such proposals or bids were or have been rejected and . . WHEREAS,_ in the opinion of the Board of Trustees the repair of said jetty may be performed more economically by day labor and the materials and supplies furnished at a lower price in the open market and the City can itself perform said proposed work; NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Board of Trustees of t: City of Newport Beach hereby determine and declare that in its opin the repair of the jetty constructed at the.entrance to Newport Herb can be performed more economically by day labor, the materials and supplies furnished at a lower price in the open market and the City can itself perform said proposed work. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Newport Beach proceed to employ the labor, purchase the material and supplies and take all necessary steps to repair the jetty now constructed at the entrance to Newport Harbor; #hat said work be done under the supervision and control° aiid to the satisfaction and approval. of who are hereby appointed as engineers of said work. On motion of.Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson the above Resolution was adopted .by the following vote, to -wit: Ayes, Trustees J. P. Greeley, J. J. Schnitker, Geo. P. Conrad Richter,.L. S. Wilkinson-. Noes, Trustees None. Absent, Trustees None. on motion of Trustee J. J. Schnitker seconded by Trustee L.S Wilkinson and carried, the Chair was to appoint a Committee of five, three of whom were to he from members of the Board of Trustees and two citizens of the town, with power to act in making a contract for the above work. The committee appointed are; Trustees Geo. P. Wilson, Conrad Richter, J. P. Greeley and A. E. Dixon and H. L. Sherman Citizens. On motion of Trustee J. J.
