The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met . in regular adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock P. hT. on above date. The meeting was called to order by President Schnitker. The roll was called as follows: Present, Trustees J.J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke. Absent, Trustee Geo.P. Wilson. The minutes of the previous meeting of April 17th were read and approved. The Fire Committee asked for an additional weeks time which vias granted. On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee 0. H. Burke and carried, the matter of repairing the Balboa Island Bridge was placed in the hands of the Street Committee with the Street Superintendent and City Engineer with power to act. The communications were read and referred to the proper order of business. UNFINISHED BUSI211ESS. This being the time fixed for opening bids for work on Ocean Avenue as contemplated by Resolution of Intention No. 156 of this Board, the Board In open session,publicly opened, examined and declared all sealed bids received for said work, to -brit: V1. 1:1. Greene for board sidewalk on wooden pile bents, complete per lineal foot, - - - - - - - - 4.35 Wattson & Hunter for board sidewalk on wooden pile bents, complete per lineal. foot, - - - - - - - 4.88 And thereupon said bids were referred to the City Engineer for checking and report. This being the the camp ground, the B, all sealed. bids, which Ernest Burris, Peter Beatty, T. E. Hudnall, day and hour fixed for opening bids for dirting )ard. in open session opened, examined and declared bids are as follows: Newport Beach, net price of - - - - $810.67 It if n _ - _ 890.00 Santa Ana, " - - - - 950.00 On motion of Trustee 0. H. Burke seconded. by Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried, all bids were rejected with the exception of the one from Ernest Burris. On motion of Trustee 0. H. Burke seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried, the bid of Ernest Burris of $810.67 was accepted and he was awarded the contract on the following vote: Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, H. C. Sloan, Conrad Richter, 0. H. BLu -ke. Noes, Trustees None. Absent, Trustee Geo. P. Wilson. On motion of Trustee Sloan seconded by Trustee 0. H. Burke and carried., the bond of City Marshal J. A. Porter was accepted and filed with the City Clerk. The City Engineer reported that Frank H. Greene is the lowest bidder for the wor_: to be done on Ocean Avenue, and thereupon Trustee 0. H. Burke presented Resolution No. 173 entitled "A Resolution of the Board. of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach, awarding the Contract for certain work on certain portions of Ocean Avenue within the said City," amd on his motion, duly seconded., said Resolution was adopted by the following vote: Ayes, Trustees J. J. Schnitker, Ii. C. Sloan, Conrad Richter, 0. H. Burke. Noes, Trustees, None. Absent, Trustee Geo. P. Wilson. NM BUSINESS. Trustee HH. C. Sloan introduced a proposed Ordinance to amend Section 13 of Ordinance No. 43 of said City. The Ordinance was ordered filed, considered, designated Ordinance No. 203 and referred to the City Attorney. Trustee 0. H. Burke introduced a proposed Ordinance granting to the Standard Oil Co. the right to construct, maintain, operate and use a spur track across Central Avenue and part of Eighteenth Street in the City of Newport Beach. The Ordinance was ordered filed, considered, designated Ordinance No. 202 and referred to the City Attorney. The application of Vernon Ramella for a license to operate a ' lunch counter was laid over to the next meeting. City Attorney Clyde Bishop was asked to prepare a Zoning Ordinance to be presented next Monday night. On motion of Trustee 0. H. Burke seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried, the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on the amount of pipe and fittings asked for by the Plater and Gas Departments. The City Clerk was asked to take up the matter with the City Electrician of laying the conduits in the streets before the paving is done, and report at the next meeting. On motion of Trustee 0. H. Burke seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried, the request of the Newport Harbor Marine Corporation for permission to extend the pier of J. T. Ferries 10 feet farther out, was referred to the City Engineer for report. On motion of Trustee 0. H. Burke seconddd'.by Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried, the meeting adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in regular adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on above date. The meeting was called, to order by President J. J. Schnitker. The roll was called showing the full Board present. The minutes of the previous meeting of April 24th were read and approved. REPORTS OF C07:'- .ITTEES. Trustee 0. H. Burke reported for the Fire Committee recommending the purchase of 400 feet of 2w" Eureka Fire Hose at $1.30 per foot and 300 feet of 1'° Eureka Fire Hose at 70� per foot, and on motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, the report was accepted and the Fire Committee and Fire Chief were authorized to purchase the Hose at the prices named. The matter of obtaining the dirt for the public camp ground from the Citys' ten acres instead of buying it was left with the Street Committee to investigate. On motion_ of Trustee Geo. P. Wilson seconded by Trustee O.H. Burke and carried, the request of Theodore Robins to put a gasoline pump on the curb line in front of Lot 4, Block 9 of Balboa Tract was granted.
