The Board of Trustees of the City of Iewport Beach met in regular session at 7:30 o'clock P. 1..:, on above date. The moeton- was called to order,by President J. J. Schnitker. The roll was called showing the full Board present. The minutes of the meetings of December 18t7. and January 1, 1923 were read and approved. The reports of the heads of the departments were read and on motion of Trustee Geo. P. I'Yilson seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan and ' carried, the reports were accepted and ordered filed. The comr:unications were read and referred to the proper order of business. r ?L:: BUS=Ess . Trustee II. C. Sloan introduced an Ordinance requiring all buildings and structures wherein sel.aage accumulates in the City of NeWDort ^eac' , to be properly connected ,riti, the public sc--rer, and providing a penalty for oil violations thereof. The Ordinance was ordered filed, read, considered, designated Ordinance S:o. 221 and referred to the City Attorney. .The report of the Fire Chief thc..t the bell on the fire hall at Balboa bad been destroyed, was considered, and on motion of Trustee L. S. VJilkinsgn seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, Fire Chief Jackson was instructed to got prices on a bell suitable to our needs and report at the next meeting•of the Board. On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on the junk copper wire the City grill have to dispose of. On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee 'r. C. Sloan and carried, the City Engineer was instructed to give to Leeds & Barnard the necessary information in begard to the soundings asked for in their communication. ' The petition asking to have 29th Street paved was laid over to next meeting. City Attorney Bishop stated that tomorrow, Januarjr 3d at 12 o'clock the City would come into possession of the Southern Pacific !wharf and suggested putting a barrier on same to keep people off until repaired, and on motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Geo. P. 17ilson and carried, the matter was placed under the supervision of City L'arshal Porter for the present, to yearn the people if they go out there they do so at their own risk. The auditing committee would recommend having the City books audited each year, and. the report was accepted and the matter laid over to the end of the fiscal year. "lould recommend going back one year only. On motion of Trustee Geo. P. Clilson seconded by Trustee, L, S. Clilkinson and carried, that demands iIo. 937 to 1.110 inclusive Laving been signed and approved by the Finance Committee, were allowed and warrants to be draynn for same. On motion. of Trustee .Teo. P. 'Filson seconded by Trustee Conrad Richter and carried, the !Tarbor Easter was instructed to place a sign on each side of the entrance channel to the bay warning people to keep away from the entrance in small boats, he to use the signs taken from the river bridge and to.put a life line on each sign. On motion of Trustee Geo. R. Wilson seconded by Trustee 1'. C. Sloan and carried, the meetin,; adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. F. on ' 1- onday, January 8, 1923.
