The communication from the Street Superintendent explainen.- that the odor complained of at the last meetin.- did not come from our garba.7e dump as nothing was being burned there, was laid on the table, The cormaunication from the Crater Superintendent enclosinG letter quoting price on pipe for bettering the water conditions over to Balboa Island was discussed; and on motior. of Trustee Y. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Conrad Ricr.ter and carried, the matter was placed in the hands of the !'later Superintendent rritr nor,er to act. A letter was read in regard to appointment of Deputy I.Iarshals, and on motion of Trustee L. S. Clilkinson seconded by Trustee Geo, P. 'ailson and carried., the communication as read was referred to the Police Committee and City L:arshal to recommend the necessary names as appointees for de_nuties. Trustee Conrad Richter stated the Boy Scouts % -ould like to l;et 50 feet of surplus fire hose the City had, and bn his motion seconded by Trustee Geo. P. 7ilson and carried, it was ordered that 50 feet of ti-e hose be turned over to them. A I. :ap of Tract no. 322, being a Resubdivision of Tract I "o. 278 of : ?errport heights was laid over for further investigation. On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P. [`rilson and carried, a I.:ap of Tract I:o. 470, being a Resubdivision of Blocks A, B, C, and P of Tract Yo. 323 Corona Del :.:ar Tract, was approved. On motion of Trustee Geo. P. '.7-i-lson seconded by Trustee Conrad Richter and carried, a :_ap of Tract 'o. 428, being a Resubdivision of Lot 19 and the '.7esterly 32 feet of Lot .18, Block t, of Tract _ ?o. 18 of Fairview Tract, was approved. On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee Geo, P. "!ilson and carried, demands No. 1581 and 1582 having been signed and apDrovod by the Finance Corunittee, were allowed and warrants to be dra.rn for same. 'Tilson seconded by Trustee L. S. F;ilkinson and carried, the application of H. P. Roberts and T. J. Williams for a permit and license to operate a Restaurant was granted. On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee L. U. ':filkinson and carried, the application of the Balboa Boat 1.7orks for permission to build a pleasure pier for P. B. Flumb in front of Lot 4 in Block 21, Balboa East.,side, 7,as granted subject to the will of the Board. l:r. A. D. Homard was present and demonstrated the Anakin ' Burglar -proof Vault and Safe Lock, and the matter was referred to the Police Committee and Citg T,:arshal. On motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Conrad Richter and carried, the request of the Balboa Beach Amusement Co. for transfer of license I ?o. 191 issued to Paul Ortego and license Ko. 215 issued to Doty & Iiansen, was ordered returned with the notation that the transfer should be asked for by the parties to whom the license was issued. On motion of Trustee L. S. ':Iilkinson seconded by Trustee Geo. ?. '7il3on and carried, the communication from the fidomen's Civic League and the Balboa Chamber of Commerce in regard to a clean -up of the City was referred .o the Street Committee and Street Superintendent with power to act. The communication from A. W. Jackson, Captain of the Frost Life Saving Corps was referred to Trustee Geo. P. 'eJilson to meet with the Life Saving Corps and report at the next meeting. On motion of Trustee E. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee L. S. Wilkinson and carried, the application of the Balboa Beach Amusement Co. for transfer of the game licenses issued to them, to H. 0. Stearns was granted. On motion_ of Trustee L. S. '. ?ilkinson seconded by Trustee 'E.C. Sloan and carried, the communication from the Balboa Chamber of Commerce in regard to the condition of the walk along the bay front bet•een Palm and Island avenues, was referred to the Street Committee and Street . , Superintendent with power to act. On motion of Trustee L. S. ':filkinson seconded bir Trustee Conrad Richter and carried, the communication from the Balboa Chamber of Commerce in regard to getting out some advertising pamphlets was referred to the Orange County Harbor Chamber of Commerce for a recommendation. The comrunication from the Associated General Contractors of America in regard to Assembly Bill No. 1107 defining the term "LO"IEST Ri,SPOUSIBLE BIDDER ", was referred to the City Engineer for report. On motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee L. S. Wilkinson and carried, the application of Lirs. Clara Crump to serve as election officer was filed for future reference. The communication from Byron Hall urging that notices be posted advising people about Ordinance No. 216 was discussed, and on motion of Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P. i'Jilson and carried, the City :..arshal was empowered to get 10 signs at approximately ;"2.00 each and post them sphere he thinks best. On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried, the request of J. H. Shearer for transfer of license No. 306 to Theodore Robins was granted. On motion of Trustee L. S. Zilkinson seconded by Trustee H. C. Sloan and carried, the communication of J. A. Hicklas in regard to ferry service to the Palisades, was tabled for future reference. On motion of,Trustee H. C. Sloan seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, the communication_ of R. G. Roberts in regard to light posts on hewport Heights was referred to the City Engineer to incorporate ' in the street proceedings now being prepared. On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee L.S. Wilkinson and carried, the request of W. C. Burris for lease on the shore end of the wharf for a lmnch stand, was granted with the understanding that if the City decided to wreck the wharf he will have to vacate. The terms of the lease to be ;'150.00 per month. On motion of Trustee L. S. Clilkinson seconded by Trustee II.C. Sloan and carried, demands Yo. 1583 to 1729 inclusive, having been signed and apprmved by the Finance Committee, were allowed and warr."nts to be dra,rn for same.
