"17 City Hall Newport Beach, May 491925., The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in regualr session on the above date at 7:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order by President Geo.P.Wilson. The roll was called, showing the full Board Present. Reports of heads of Departments was read and ordered filed. The_minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved. , Under reports of special committees , the Committee appoint- ed to investigate parking matters on the Ocean Front, Trustee Young suggested a wire fence to be erected along the bulkhead. The matter was discussed, the the committee was continued for another two weeks. In the matter of lighting certain portions of Coast Boulevard, there had been no protests filed with the Jerk, and no persons desiring to be heard, Trustee Wilkinson moved the adoption of the following Resolution No. 332. "A resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach, ordering the improvement of certain portions of Coast Boulevard within said city, "which motion was seconded by Trustee Sloan and passed upon call of the roll by the following vote.: Ayes, Trustees Geo.P.Wilson, H.C.Sloan, Fred W. Young Conrad Richter and L.S.Vlilkinson. Noes: Trustees, None, Absent :Trustees.None® Trustee Richter moved the adoption of the following: Resolution No.333: "A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES & THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH DIRECTING CERTAIN WORK OR IMPROVEMENTS TO BE DONE UNDER THE DI - RECTION OF THE CITY ENGINEER OF SAID CITY" Which motion was seconded by Trustee Young, and carried in the following manner: Ayes: Trustees Geo.F.Wilson, H.C.Sloan, Conrad Richter, Fred Young, and LS..', ^lilkinson. Noes: Trustees None, Absent: Trustees, None, comma- unication from the Balboa C.of C. suggest'in?g certain zones for fires on the Beach and the providing of-six barbecues along the bdach, was referred to the street Supt. for investigation and report. A communication for advertiseing war trophies, was referred to the local post of the American Legion for suggestion as to what would be appropriate trophies.for.the city Request of Mr.Polhamus that the street in front of gis property at 1134 E.Central Ave. be sprinkled was referred to the treet Superintendant. Secretary Welch of the Orange Co. Harbor C.of C. submitted estimated expenditures for the mohhh of Math to be $532.50. On motion of Trustee Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee Young, and carried, the amount asked for was ordered set aside out of the advertising fund and expenditure, was allowed. The report of the Water Supt. was read, in which he stated that an emergency out -fall should be constructed in case of emergency when the electricty was turned off. The matter was referred back to the ' City Engineer and water Supt. to determine the cost of the improvement. The offer of Mr. C.C.Henry to sell the City of Newport Beach a portion of his property at Balboa for street purposes, was referred to the committee as a whole. Trustee Conrad Richter stated that many persons were camping near th- '�riege going to Corona Del Mar, and that no comfort statian being available, the beach was getting in bad condition. Thereupon the lerk was ordered to call the attention of Mr. Irvine to the matter, and see what could be done. Application ofl;ir. Rund to run a fishing pond concession at Balboa, was granted, subject to the approval of City Marshall J.A.Porter. t I On motion of Trustee Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Sloan, and carried, the demands , as approved by the finance committee, were allowed, and warrants ordered drawn.. There being no further Sloan, seconded by Trustee Young, to May 18, at 7:30 P.Pdo.1925. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved, R Reports of special and standing committees were read and referred to the proper order. In the matter of the parking problem along the Ocean front at Newport, the committee was continued for one week for further investimgti and report at the next meeting. There having been.no bide nrceived on the old Balboa Comfort Stateion, the matter was laid on the table for further action.. Communications: A communication was received.from the -treet Supt. regarding the oiling of Central Ave. from B.St. down, and onsmotion of Trustee Young, seconded by ;Trustee Sloan, and carried, the Street Suptl was authorized to carry out the improvement. In the matter of barbecues being built along the beach, the report of the Street Supt. was accepted and ordered filed. A communication was received from the Reliance Title Co., regarding a confused map on lot 128 Blk. A.o f East Newport, and on motion of Trustee S oan, seconded by Trustee Wilkinson, and carried, the President and Clerk were authorized to sign a quit claim deed to a portion of the property when a deed for,-the correct amount of the lot was received from Mrs. Sara B.Smith, the present owner of the-property. on motion of Trustee Sloan, seconded by Trustee Young, and carried, application of Chas.Irvine to operate a merry -go -round at Balboa, was approved and the license ordered granted. Application of Ben Cope to construct a pier on the following Lot 8 Tr. 756 -Lot 6 Tr.756 and Lots 1 and 2 B1k.26 E.Side Add. to Balboa Tr. were laid over for the usual two weeks. Application df C. A.Price. to construct a bridge from Balboa Island to Collins Isle was rejected and the Clerk was ordered to write Par. Price that permission would have to be obtained from the U.S.Government and then the application should again be presented to the Board of Trustees On motion of Trustee L.S.Wilkinson, seconded by Trustee H.C.Sloan and carried, it was ordered that the city of New -;ort Beach quit claim unto the Irvine Co., a corporation all of the land described
