HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-11-1932 - Special Meeting397 City Attorney Thompson presented the Lease with the Newport Harbor Union High School District, which was considered, and on motion of Councilman Claire seconded by Councilman Garfield and carried, the matter was laid on the table until next meeting for further consideration. City Attorney Thompson presented the Policy of Title Insurance covering a part of Lot 1013 of First Addition to Newport Mesa Tract upon which a portion of our water reservoir stands, and on motion of Councilman Claire seconded by Councilman Hilmer and carried, the same was accepted and ordered filed. Councilman Claire brought up the matter of the unsightly condition•of the City Hall and thought it should be repainted. The matter was considered and on his motion seconded by Councilman Garfield and carried, the City Engineer and Building Inspector were instructed to have the City Hall repaired where needed and repainted. Councilman Claire introduced a Resolution authoring and directing the City Attorney to proceed before the Railroad Commission for a right -of -way at Orange Street. The Resolution was read, considered, designated RESOLUTION NO. 724, and upon call of the roll was passed by the following vote, to -wit: AYES, Councilmen Hilmer, Claire,'Ellsworth, Garfield, Johnson. NOES, Councilmen None. ABSENT, Councilmen None. There being no further Ellsworth seconded by Councilman adjourned to 7:30 o'clock P. M. Approved January 18, 1932• s City Clerk. business on motion of Councilman Claire and carried, the meeting on Monday, January 18, 1931. City Hall, Newport Beach, Jan. 11, 1932. Pursuant to call thereof by the Mayor of the City of Newport Beach and notice delivered to each member at least three hours before the time specified for the meeting, the City Council met for a special meeting at the place and on the date above mentioned at 7:30 o'clock P. M. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Johnson. The roll was called showing all members present except Councilman Ellsworth. The call was read and the Council proceeded to consider the matter for which the meeting was called, namely action, if advisable, on the reappraisement of property in the City of Newport Beach Mayor Johnson stated the Realty Board had made a verbal proposition to appraise all property in the City including buildings, for $3,000.00 which would be approximately 20¢ per lot, and subject to adjustments before acceptance. The matter was discussed for some time from various angles, and on motion of Councilman Garfield seconded by Councilman Claire and carried, the Mayor was instructed to appoint a committee of one to ascertain from the Realty Board what they would equalize the assessments on city property for. The Committee appointed was Councilman Garfield. There being no further business embodied in the call, on.motion of Councilman Hilmer,. seconded by Councilman Claire and carried, the meeting adjourned. Approved oJanuary 18, 1932 f City Clerk
