A Special Meeting was called by Mayor Hilmer and held in the Ctty Council Chambers of the City of Newport Beach at the hour of 8:30 o'clock A.M. on above date with Mayor Hilmer presiding. The call which was duly signed by all members of the City Council was read, and on motion of Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Garfield and carried, the same was ordered filed. The purpose of the Special Meeting was to consider and act upon the necessity and advisability of appropriating money for the drilling of two certain water wells on City owned properties and in connection therewith to enter into and execute all necessary contracts for the drilling of said wells. Said meeting was also called for the purpose of authorizing the Mayor of the City of Newport Beach and the City Clerk thereof to make application for SERA money for the carrying out of certain projects approved by the City Council and the Engineer of said City. City Attorney Thompson presented and explained a resolution which authorized and empowered the City Council to carry out the provisions of the purpose for which the meeting was called. , The various bids submitted for the drilling of the two wells, together with quotations on the necessary materials in connection therewith were opened informally and read. After consider - able'discussion it was decided on motion of Councilman Claire, seconded by Councilman Gordon and carried, to take an adjournment to 8:30 o'clock A. M. Wednesday, November 28, 1934, in order to allow the City Engineer to investigate and report on the different bids submitted and also to prepare a Minimum Wage Scale in connection with the project.
