A .a Newport Beach, December 18, 1944 The City Council of the City of Newport -Beach met in adjourned regular session in the City CouncilrChambers at the City Hall at the hour of 5:00 o'clock p.m, on the above date with Mayor Hall presiding, Roll Call The roll was called, the following Councilmen answering present: Allen, Stanley, Isbell, Reed, Hall. Absent, Councilmen: None. REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES. None. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Councilman Stanley reporting on the progress of the sewer connection to Councilman Stm ley the Joint Outfall Sewer System, presented a letter from the Mayor of Santa Ana report on Joint which was read and which stated that the City of Santa Ana wished to go on record Outfall Sewer as favoring the proposal of the City of Newport Beach and with the hope that this System offer would be accepted by the other members of the Joint Outfall Sewer Board, Councilman Stanley also recommended that the contract awarded for making Suggestion that the connection at the original location be cancelled and that the Mayor and City original contract Clerk be authorized to sign the contract designated as plan No. 2, for a connection be cancelled and at Station 215 -70, said contract not to be signed until Wednesday, December 20th, a new onedrawn pending further action of the Joint Outfall Sewer Board, covering Plan No. 2 COMMUNICATIONS Vaux J. White The application of Vaua J. White for a license to conduct a cafe at license for cafe 810 East Central Avenue was on motion of Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman approved Isbell and carried, granted subject to the approval of the Health Officer, Letter from State The letter from the State Finance Department calling attention to the Fiance Dept. for filing of an application for reimbursement for expenses incurred in Civilian reimbursement for Defense activities was on motion of Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Stanley Divilian Defense and carried, referred to Fire Chief Crocker. E2pense The offer of Ralph P. Maskey regarding the appraisal of all real estate property in the City of Newport Beach for assessing purposes for both the City of Ralph P. Maskey Newport Beach and Orange County for a fee of $1,500.00 plus cost of two sets of approved by City maps, was presented, and after discussing the - matter in which the Council was Council to appralseaddressed by County Assessor Enderle, who agreed to share the expense of the real estate appraisal with the City, it was moved by Councilman Stanley, seconded by Councilman Isbell and carried, that the offer be accepted, Letters from The letter of Secretary Welch of the Chamber of Commerce together with Chamber of Commercea report from the Committee of Water and Flood Control of Orange County were read, & Water & Flood and on motion of Councilman Stanley, seconded by Councilman Allen and carried, Control read. were ordered filed. Hudson for permission to erect a Captain James T. standard type Barrack building at the end of Central Avenue in Balboa was presented, Hudson granted and after an explanation by the City Engineer as to location, it was moved by Councilman permission to Allen, seconded by Councilman Reed and carried, that the request be granted. erect bldg. A. Wattson for making the City's sewer con- nection at the lower, or original location be cancelled. The motion was duly seconded by Councilman Isbell and carried by the following roll call vote, to wit: AYES, COUNCILMEN: Allen, Reed, Isbell, Stanley, Hell.. NOES, COUNCILMEN: None, ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: .None. Authorization to On motion of Councilman Isbell, seconded by Councilman Allen, the Mayor execute contract and City Clerk were authorized to execute on behalf of the City, the contract with R. A. Wattson Company for the connection of the City sewer system to the Joint Outfall Sewer in accordance with Plan No. 2 and for the amount as submitted in the bid of R. A. Wattson Company. The motion was carried by the following roll call vote, to wit: AYES, COUNCILMEN: Allen, Reed, Isbell, Stanley, Hall. NOES, COUNCILMEN: None. ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: None. 0 7 0 0 Signing of contract On motion of Councilman Stanley, seconded by Councilman Allen, the signing , deferred until of the contract with R. A. Wattson Company to be deferred until Wednesday, December Dec. 20. 20th. The motion was carried by the following roll call vote, to wit: AYES, COUNCILMEN: Allen, Reed, Isbell, Stanley, Hall NOES, COUNCILMEN: None, ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: None, Ammended Agreement re: additional rental charges for facilities of Joint Outfall Sewer On motion of Councilman Stanley, seconded by Councilman Isbell, the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to sign the Amended Agreement in the matter of paying additional rental for facilities of Joint Outfall Sewer to the City of Newport Beach. The motion was carried by the following roll call vote, to wit: AYES, COUNCILMEN: Allen, Reed, Isbell, Stanley, Hall. NOES, COUNCILMEN. None. ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: None, 0 0 0 L 9 0 217 Councilman Isbell brought up the question of selling certain City Possible sale of owned property in Block 22, Newport Beach, and advised that an offer of City owned property $10,000.00 net to theCity would be submitted, in Block 22, N.B. ADJOURNMENT, On motion of Councilman Allen, seconded by Councilman Reed and carried, an adjournment was taken Sine Die.
