HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/18/1948 - Adjourned Regular Meeting10 May 15th, 1945 The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in a regular adjourned session in the City Council Chambers at the City Hall at the hour of 4 o'clock P. M. on the above date. The roll was called, the following Councilmen answering present; Greeley, Isbell, Blue and Drake. Mayor Drake asked-if any of the Councilmen or anyone in the audience wished the minutes of the previous meeting, or any part thereof, read; no one responded and the reading of the minutes was dispensed with. REPORTS OF HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS a None REPORTS OF SPECIAL COMMITTEES - None REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES - None COMMUNICATIONS The application of the Seaboard Equipment Corp. to install Apn'kn Seaboard Equip - a fifty gallon gasoline buggy outside of the building at 1205 Coast ment Co. granted. Highway, Newport Beach, California, approved by the Fire Department, was granted on motion of Councilman Isbell, seconded by Councilman Greeley and carried. The letter of Granger Hyler regarding the City zoning ordi- Granger Hyler's letter nance was referred to the City Attorney for answering on motion of re zoning ordinances Councilman Isbell, seconded by Councilman Greeley and carried. referred to City Att'y. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Ordinance No. 577 amending the Meter Ordinance came up for Ordinance No. 577 the second reading. Councilman Isbell moved that the Ordinance be amending Meter Ordinan adopted , the motion was seconded by Councilman Greeley and carried adopted. by the following vote, to -wit; AYES, COUNCILMEN: Greeley, Isbell, Blue and Drake NOES, COUNCILMEN: None A ABSENT COUNCILMEN: Robertson NEW BUSINESS Councilman Isbell moved the adoption of a resolution being a Quitclaim Deed in resolution authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute on behalf of favor of C. C. Barn - the City of Newport Beach the following quitclaim deed to the following house. person and covering the following described property: C. C. Barnhouse Lot 16, Block 115, SECTION B as shown on,a Map recorded in Book 4, page 27 of Miscella- neous Maps, records of Orange Count, California L. Wm. Covert, Street Superintendent, requested authority Employment of Thomas to transfer Clarence Lindberg from the Water Department to the Street A. Shorb, Charles E. Department at the same rate of pay, effective date April 29, 1945, Cox and Darwin L. and for authority to employ the following men in the Street Department, Ballew granted and classification laborer at the rate of $163.00 per month, ($.SS )per hour)transfer of Clarence Lindberg to Street Thomas A. Maskey was duly elected as the 15th Freeholder.
