The City Council of the City of Newport Beach met in spe-
cial session in the Council Chambers at the City Hall at the hour
of 11:66 A.M. on the above date with Mayor Drake presiding.
The roll was called, the following Councilmen answering
present: Robertson, Greeley, Blue and Drake.
The following call for which the meeting was convened
was read by the Clerk:
" I, C. K. Priest, being duly qualified as City Clerk of
the City of Newport Beach, and having been informed that an
emergency exists requiring immediate action by the City Council
of said City of Newport Beach, do hereby call a Special Meeting
of the City Council to be held at 11 o'clock A.M. on May 29,
1945 at the City Hall to consider the following question, to -wit:
That the City of Newport Beach finds itself in a position
where immediate help is need from the Orange County Planning
Commission, and the technical staff of the Orange County
Planning Commission could be of important and necessary service
to the City of Newport Beach due to the congested conditions
now existing in the City of kewport Beach. Therefore, since
the present condition arises largely from cities and unincor-
porated areas of Orange County whose residents come to the City
of Newport Beach for recreational purposes, and since the
City of Newport Beach contributes a great amount of money to
Orange County in the form of taxes, the services of the Orange
County Planning Commission should be made immediately available
to the City of Newport Beach, with particular reference to the
special problems cited in a resolution prepared for consideration
at the aforesaid special meeting.

It was moved by Councilman Greeley, seconded by Councilman Resolution No. 3597 adopted
Blue that the resolution be adopted and Resolution No. 3597 be
awarded. The motion was carried by the following vote, to -wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Robertson, Greeley, Blue and Drake
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT COUNCILMEN: Isbell.
On motion of Councilman Robertson, seconded by Councilman
Greeley and carried, the meeting was adjourned sine die.
